Creating a foundation for independence for young people U25 with challenging lives, homeless or at risk of homelessness.

About us

The Basement Projects provides holistic Outreach Support, a Drop-in Service / Contact Centre and a contemporary Food Bank for young people under 25 who are facing crisis, homeless, or at risk of homelessness. Our work covers the County of Worcestershire. Our clients (young people & families) come from many, many different backgrounds and cultures and early interventions has broadened our reach, increased our success rates, and helped transform young lives. The mix of young people and need is far greater and too easily stereotyped. And the pandemic has impacted a far wider demographic and impacted on many young people not least through financial hardship, mental health and wellbeing, breakdown of relationships and immediate access to support. Outreach work is our experienced, qualified and expert Support Workers in the community, meeting a young person / family in a safe and mutual place of choice on a regular basis. Drop-in (and soon our "pop-up" drop in locations) allows young people to come to us, and the phone / website remain touch points for support. Our clients (the young people we support) are really varied from 16-year-old care leaver's to university students, young families single parents, LBGT and minority group The Drop in Service / Contact Centre is open for support and advice on: Monday to Friday - 12:00 to 4:00p for Drop-in Service face to face (ideally by appointment due to Covid-19) and 0900 - 16.30 by telephone - 01527 832993 Our service is holistic and based on the individual, we deliver directly through our expert team whilst partnering with key providers and statutory agencies. Our independence affords a flexible and tailored service. Common themes are * Sustaining Tenancy * Money Matters * Mental Health & Wellbeing * Health * Cooking on a budget * Employability from writing a CV, to application, interview preparation and in job mentoring. * Education * Social Integration / Social Events

We are so grateful to the individuals that pop in on a weekly basis and the corporate partners who help us out at our busiest times of the year (such as Christmas). From, sorting food in our food bank to helping us with social media, their hard work doesn't go unnoticed. Thank you to all of our volunteers past and present!

  • Over Easter, West Brom Building Society Bromsgrove branch, have been very kindly fundraising for The Basement Project, in which they raised £50.42 for us! We are really grateful that they chose to support our charity as this could fund a session of specialist support for a young person who may be at risk of homelessness. Alongside this, they have also been collecting items for our food bank which one of our support workers, Barb, picked up from Sydney at the Bromsgrove branch this week. We want to say a huge thank you for their generosity and support, it really means a lot to us and the young people we support ❤️

  • We want to say a huge thank you to Waitrose & Partners Bromsgrove for their donation of £500 to The Basement Project!🙂 Over the years, we have been incredibly grateful for the generosity that Waitrose Bromsgrove has provided us with, as each donation makes such a difference in supporting our services to the young people in our local community. This donation equates to 16.5 hours worth of support which comes in the form of services like mediation, guidance on how to manage a tenancy, advocacy to help navigate challenges and support to access employment. We really appreciate that Waitrose has chosen to support us in preventing homelessness for young people in Worcestershire📍

  • The Basement Project have some new pets… CHOCOLATE BUNNIES!🐰🍫 Last week, our CEO Caleb had a call from JJX Logistics asking if we would like a donation of some Easter chocolate for our clients. We are incredibly grateful for this kind gesture, as a staggering 1780 chocolate Easter bunnies turned up at our front door just in time for the Easter weekend🐣 Thank you so much JJX Logistics for your generosity, they are going down an absolute treat🥰

  • Did you see it...? Youth homelessness is rising in rural areas, and it is something we see on a daily basis as we support young people across Worcestershire. The issue was discussed in this weeks Countryfile, and we were excited to see that Upstream, a new preventative programme that we are proudly taking part in, was mentioned.
