The University of Waterloo has released Measuring Research Outputs with Bibliometrics, a major update to its 2016 White Paper on Bibliometrics and Research Impact. The new position paper reinforces Waterloo's leadership in responsible research assessment and provides a modern framework for understanding research impact across disciplines.

When students in HLTH 480: Competencies in Health set out to address complex community health challenges, Rachel Figueiredo, entrepreneurship librarian, and Siu Hong Yu, a health and science librarian, helped ensure their ideas were grounded in evidence.

Faculty librarian Mike Chee recently collaborated with Professor Heather Whiteside (Faculty of Arts) to design PSCI 601: Research and Writing in Political Science for the winter 2026 term.

The University of Waterloo Libraries recently caught up with Sarah and Lakshmi, winners of this year’s Sharon Lamont Student Award. The award is given annually to students who have worked at the Libraries and have, through extracurricular involvement, supported equity, diversity and inclusion initiatives.

Since 2010, the Red Dress movement, originated by Métis artist Jaime Black, has been both an artistic and educational call to action, raising awareness of the disproportionate number of missing and murdered Indigenous women, girls and two-spirit (MMIWG2S) people in Canada.

The Libraries will be moving to a new course reserves platform, Leganto, beginning Fall 2026 to better support faculty and students.
