On a specific project, if a particular credited producer is excluded after the accreditation process is completed, the producer in question may file a formal appeal for inclusion, which will then be decided upon by a PGA Accreditation Committee.
GLA co-chairs, Bruce Cohen and Laura Ziskin said, "We are thrilled with the quality and wide range of this year's nominees. In the feature film category, it shows what an exciting and unpredictable award season we have to look forward to. Today's announcement of our film and television nominees definitely confirms our excitement for what promises to be a fantastic Golden Laurel Awards show in March."
This year, the PGA will honor Kirk Douglas with their "Milestone Award," as well as Brian Grazer with the David O. Selznick Lifetime Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures and David E. Kelley with the David Susskind Lifetime Achievement Award in Television. The PGA will bestow its Hall of Fame award on the features, Lawrence of Arabia and It Happened One Night, as well as television shows, The Andy Griffith Show and The Honeymooners. The "Vision Award," recipient for feature film is Fantasia 2000, and for television CSI: Crime Scene Investigation. Both the "Nova Award" and the "New Technology Award," will be announced in the near future.
In recent years, the PGA has concentrated its efforts on finding a solution to the problem of industry-wide proliferation of producer credits and is in the process of securing the support of studios and networks in accepting the Guild's accreditation procedures in awarding the PGA Certification Mark to those producers who perform a majority of the producing functions.
