Quake Causes Pok?mon Shortage
Nintendo blames a Pokémon Gold and Silver cartridge shortage on the Taiwan quake a month ago.
- Nintendo Co. LTD. originally wanted to get a massive shipment of Pok?mon Gold and Silver on Japan shelves the first week of its release (November 21st). But the company will only be able to meet half its original quota, and it blames the earthquake in Taiwan as the cause for the shortage.

Nintendo first announced that the company will be shipping more than three million copies of Pok?mon Gold and Silver the first week, but has just announced that it will only be able to ship half that ? about one to one-and-a-half million of the cartridges.

Last week, Nintendo announced the delay of its Nintendo Power Game Boy station due to the damage to the cartridge manufacturing facilities Nintendo uses in Taiwan. And it seems this has caused a problem in the manufacturing process for the next Pok?mon game to be released.

Or, this could just be spin control for the possible fact that Nintendo wants to limit the shipment to keep the demand high....
