Since his first solo release in 1995, trumpeter Chris Botti has satisfied the desire of adult music lovers everywhere for the sound of classic romantic jazz. Crossing the lines between contemporary jazz, traditional jazz and pop music, Botti has worked with a diverse array of artists including Joni Mitchell, Natalie Merchant, and film composer John Barry. Film critic Rex Reed called him, "The sexiest trumpeter since Chet Baker."

Chris Botti's latest release "To Love Again" debuted at #18 on the Billboard Top 200 chart, and could remain on the charts longer than its predecessor, "When I Fall In Love", which hit #1 on the Traditional Jazz charts for an incredible 17 weeks. "To Love Again" is a collection of pop and jazz standards recorded with guest vocalists including Paula Cole, Michael Buble, Jill Scott, Gladys Knight, and Steven Tyler from Aerosmith. Botti and Sting's recording of "What Are You Doing For The Rest Of Your Life?" from the album won the 2006 Grammy Award for Best Instrumental Arrangement Accompanying Vocalist(s).

With his high tenor voice as a calling card, William "Smokey" Robinson is the man Bob Dylan once called one of America's greatest living poets. Considered the best songwriter in America during the early 60's, Smokey Robinson churned out classic cuts for Motown acts like the Miracles, the Temptations, Marvin Gaye and others. While his songwriting star at Motown would later be eclipsed by Holland-Dozier-Holland, it is amazing to see Robinson's output between 1962-66. During that time he penned songs like "My Girl," "Ooh Baby Baby," "The Way You Do The Things You Do," "My Guy," "It's Growing" and dozens of other soul classics.

Robinson also became a heartthrob as the lead singer for the Miracles. His smooth voice and green eyes were magnets for young women, and he and the Miracles rode the charts consistently for the entire decade with hits like "Mickey's Monkey," "I Second That Emotion" and their all-time classic "The Tracks of My Tears." Smokey continued to score in the early 80's with big hits like "Bein' With You" and "Tell Me Tomorrow." He left Motown for a period and later returned.

In May 2005, Motwon released "My World," the most comprehensive single disc compilation of Smokey Robinson's solo work and his recordings with the Miracles. The disc also included two enjoyable new cuts, the smooth ballad "Fallin" and the mild island mid-tempo title cut.

Voted into the Rock And Roll Hall Of Fame in 1988, Smokey Robinson is now one of the senior figures in popular music, a writer and producer still best remembered for his outstanding work in the 60's, but who has seldom betrayed the responsibility of that legacy.

The leading female rock vocalist of the 1980's, Pat Benatar is a certified rock and roll superstar, an 8-time Grammy nominee with an unprecedented 4 consecutive Grammy Awards for Best Rock Performance (Female), 6 platinum and 4 gold albums to her credit. With now-husband Neil Giraldo on guitar, hit singles such as " I Need A Lover," "Heartbreaker," "Hit Me With Your Best Shot," "Hell Is For Children," "We Live For Love," and "Love Is A Battlefield" became anthems for a new attitude. She was, and still is bold, self-assured and independent; alluring but not self-exploitive; vulnerable but not weak; strong-minded without being hard hearted. Benatar blazed a trail for female rock, not pop, stars that broke all the rules, and that fire still blazes on the concert stage.

Dion Dimucci's streetwise Italian doo-wop made him a teen idol in the late 50's and early 60's, when Dion and the Belmonts scored their first two hits with 1958's "A Teenager In Love" and 1959's "I Wonder Why." As a solo artist, Dion had a string of Top 10 hits with "Runaround Sue," "The Wanderer" and "Ruby Baby." In the turbulent 1960's he recorded the elegiac "Abraham, Martin and John," a gentle ode to three fallen historical heroes. He came back in 1989 with "King Of The New York Streets." A first-class performer, Dion brings new life to his material, gains new fans wherever he performs, and delivers his best to those who have been with him since the beginning of his career.

Special guests, The Shangri-Las were undoubtedly the "punkiest girl group of the sixties", formed by four young women from Queens, NY. With the untimely death of one of the girls, the group performed as a trio who gained famed imitating the current hits of the time. In 1964, the Shangri-Las came to the attention of producer, George "Shadow" Morton, who arranged for a contract with the newly formed Red Bird Label. Morton wrote and produced "Remember (Walkin In The Sand)" a record that quickly established the group by climbing to the National Top Five. Their classic hit "Leader Of The Pack" went straight to number one.

Led by founder and guitar player, Russ Freeman, the popular contemporary jazz group The Rippingtons give one of the best live shows around. Founded in 1986 as a one-off studio project, the band originally featured Freeman with now-superstars David Benoit, Kenny G and others. Their first release, "Moonlighting" was an unexpected splash, and now, 20 years down the line, the band is still hot with a line-up that includes Bill Heller (keyboards), Eric Marienthal (sax), Kim Stone (bass), Scott Breadman (percussion), and Dave Karasony (drums). Their show is half jazz concert and half rock concert, and it's a great evening which is why we keep having them back. Opening the show is Nelson Rangell who first made a name for himself in 1979 when he was named Best High School Jazz Soloist in Down Beat Magazine's nationwide competition. He later won the competition again at the college level. Rangell is adept on soprano, alto and tenor sax, as well as being a virtuoso on flute and piccolo. A recent Jazziz magazine readers poll ranked him among the most underrated musicians in the business. His last two releases, "Destiny" and "Turning Night Into Day" were both Top 5 airplay smashes with three Top 10 Billboard hits.

The show has a strong effect on everyone, and acts as a bridge between generations and viewpoints. What looks like incredible chaos is actually organized anarchy. Phenomenal musical numbers include "Aquarius," "Good Morning Starshine," "I Believe In Love," "Hair," "I Got Life" and much more. In 1982, the debut of a new "super group" formed by drummer Carl Palmer (Emerson, Lake and Palmer), guitarist Steve Howe (Yes), keyboardist Geoff Downes (Yes, The Buggles), and bassist John Wetton (King Crimson,Roxy Music, Uriah Heep) was, based on their past affiliations, expected to be an orgy of progressive rock self-indulgence. Rather unexpectedly, the album "Asia" turned out to be a monster hit singles machine, selling 10 million copies and the tunes "Heat of the Moment," "Sole Survivor," "Wildest Dreams," "Only Time Will Tell," and "Here Comes the Feeling" blanketed the air waves.

Their second release "Alpha" continued that success with the Top 10 hits "Don't Cry," and "The Heat Goes On". Sales of over 2 million and their 1983 "Asia in Asia" MTV event, a live concert from Japan, drew over 20 million viewers. All four original members unite for a rare evening combining bona fide hits and "musician's musician" performances.

It's the summer of 1776 and the nation is ready to declare independence...if only our founding fathers can agree to do it! "1776" follows John Adams of Massachusetts, Benjamin Franklin of Pennsylvania, and Richard Henry Lee and Thomas Jefferson of Virginia as they attempt to convince members of the second Continental Congress to vote for independence from the shackles of the British monarchy by signing the Declaration of Independence. "1776" puts a human face on the pages of history as we see the men behind the national icons: proud, frightened, uncertain, irritable, charming often petty and ultimately noble figures determined to do the right thing for a fledgling nation. A rich score and characterization bring this intense moment in history to vivid life!

The Brian Setzer Orchestra, the 17-piece Big Band fronted by Setzer and his electric guitar, returns to the Basie playing what he calls "American Music." While similar to 1940's Big Band music in its instrumental lineup, it is the band's original spin on the songs that makes them cool. A fan of guitars, hot rods and rock 'n' roll, Setzer sums up his band as larger than life.

Steve Tyrell is back for his third Basie appearance with material from his new recordings, "Songs of Sinatra" and "The Disney Standards." After four decades as one of the most successful songwriters, record producers and movie soundtrack producers in the business, Steve Tyrell launched his own singing career on a whim with a one-off performance of "The Way You Look Tonight" on 1991's "Father of The Bride" Soundtrack. It was so well received, his level of stardom as a performer began to rise. "I've always considered myself a song man," says Tyrell, and his own performances of great American standards like "The Very Thought Of You," "I've Got The World On A String," Irving Berlin's "I've Got My Love To Keep Me Warm," the Billie Holiday classic "The Mood That I'm In" and Duke Ellington's "Don't Get Around Much Anymore" begin with a simple love of the tune, and are built on his own rich, soothing voice and engaging musical arrangements.

"Peter, Paul and Mary are folk singers," stated the liner notes to the group's 1962 debut album. Today, this declaration seems redundant, because the words "folk music" are virtually interchangeable with the group's name. During a legendary 40+ year career, they have achieved a rarefied level of commercial success without compromise, raising their voices in song for the sake of freedom in civil rights marches, peace marches, and on generation-defining recordings like "If I Had a Hammer," "Puff (The Magic Dragon)," "Blowin' in the Wind," "The Wedding Song," "Leaving on a Jet Plane," "Where Have All the Flowers Gone," and "500 Miles," to name but a few of their recordings that earned 6 gold and 3 platinum albums, 5 Grammy Awards, and produced 5 Top 10 albums, 13 Top 40 singles and 6 Top 10 hits. No American folk group has lasted longer or amassed a more loyal following than Peter, Paul and Mary; and they're still spreading a message and engaging the next (now four) generations.
