In case you didn't know, New York Fashion Week kicked off today! We're going to try and cover all the top shows here so definitely check back throughout the weekend. First up, a slew of celebs modeling designer gowns for Heart Truth Red. The designers include runway staples like Oscar De La Renta, Donna Karan, Bill Blass and Narciso Rodriguez. The celebrities (and models); Kim Catrell, Kelly Ripa, Katharine McPhee, Rachel Ray and a bunch of others. Oh, and I have no idea who the first girl is, I just really like the dress.
Spring Fashion Posted by Kim on 01 Feb 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Yesterday I shopped by Express and got a peak of their spring collection; VERY cute. It got me into a fashion mood! Well, actually I'm always in a fashion mood, but you get the point. One of the things I loved was....
...this pair of shorts. Actually, this isn't the exact pair (they're from Arden B) since Express only updates their website once in a blue moon, but they're similar; very short with a ribbon belt. I can't remember the price over at Express, but most of their stuff isn't very expensive, probably around $30 or $40.
I also "accidently" found a boutique called Sky while shopping/trend researching on Robertson a week or two ago. I really love this brand, even though 99% of the stuff they have looks the same. And they seem to be a staple with celebs; if you have a good memory, you might recall Kellie Pickler wearing one of their tops on AI last year. Most of their tops are aline/baby doll style with some sort of medallion, crochet, or leather below the bust. I bought two while I was there (not the ones pictured) and there's two or three that I still want to get!
You can find their stuff at FashionChateau.com, ShopBarbara.com and a plethora of other online retailers. Their prices range from about $80 to $135 for the tops and around $150 for mini dresses.
Get ready for my list of Top Ten Must Haves for Spring, coming up sometime this weekend (or next week). There are some interesting trends this season, so it should be fun!

Hot Links of the Day Posted by Kim on 01 Feb 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
It's SuperBowl weekend, and look who's making good on their 15 minutes of fame....old bug eyes from the American Idol auditions a few weeks ago and his friend. Guess he's not so upset with Simon anymore!
Idol producers wanted to replace Paula with Courtney Love? Uh, to the peeps believing this...the rumor goes around every year. Last year it was Whitney Houston, and next year it will be Tara Reid or whatever female trainwreck is getting the most press.
Beyonce named as AskMen.com's Most desirable woman. Okay, homegirl DESERVED to win cause 1. she's got curves and 2. she's not Adriana Lima, Scarlett Johannsson or any of those other overrated "beauties". 'Nuff said
And just cause everyone is talking about it....'Jengelina'. My word....
American Idol 6 - L.A. Auditions Posted by Kim & Tiff on 31 Jan 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
To say I (Tiff) had high hopes for L.A. from what I'd heard would be an understatement. I heard there were a lot of talented guys who had auditioned there, and I was looking forward to seeing those guys. Either the rumors weren't true, or the show is hiding them until Hollywood on purpose. For now, I'll believe the latter.
Tiff: Things started off with Britney Spears' third husband, post-Isaac. You know, K-Fed 3.0. Oh wait, I mean Martik. In his pre-interview, he seemed to think he was some sort of jungle cat, and in his audition he clawed, crawled, and growled before he sang. He sounded like a weird Michael Jackson/Justin Timberlake on helium combination, and it wasn't pleasant. No Hollywood for Martik, but I'm sure Britney will be calling soon.
Kim: Oh, this one was great. He's replaced Leroy Wells in my book.

Fall Out Boy Infinity On High Album Review Posted by Tiff on 31 Jan 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Fall Out Boy's new album, 'Infinity On High' isn't due in stores until February 6th. I, however, scored a [legal] copy early, and decided to post a review for your consumeristic pleasure.
I really do like this band, but I was apprehensive about their follow up album, considering they don't always turn out so well. The album starts with 'Thriller' and immediately, you hear the usual odd lyrics and catchy verses. I had hope that this would be good. 'Take Over, The Break's Over' follows, and the vocals are a little more forced, the drums and bass guitar really drive this song. Again, a highly lovable chorus. It's a great car song. 'This Ain't A Scene, It's An Arms Race' comes next, and while I'd heard it before, I always like the different things about this song. The music sounds like a march, and the vocals follow suit.
'I'm Like A Lawyer With The Way I'm Always Trying To Get You Off (Me & You)' follows, with a traditional Fall Out Boy amusing title. I actually adore this song, and I think it would be very radio-friendly. I love the whole song, but specifically the chorus, it makes you want to sing along. 'Hum Hallelujah' is another good car song. It's once again driven by the guitar and drums, and the vocals just work with the music. I love the chorus to this one too. And really, 'Golden' surprised me. In the middle of a bunch of faster paced songs, comes this one, a slow, slightly sad sounding FOB song. You actually hear piano in this one, which isn't as common for their music. I like it a lot. 'Thnks Fr Th Mmrs' is next, and that's no typo. It's got another very driven, slightly creepy sound, but it's very addictive.
'Don't You Know Who I Think I Am?' is another song with strong guitar and drums. I like this song, and the lyrics are very much likable and worth repeating. 'The (After) Life Of The Party' starts out sounding slightly reminiscent of 50's music, and then it picks up in the chorus, again, I like this, but not as much as some of the others. 'The Carpal Tunnel of Love' most of us have had for a while. It sounds very much like traditional FOB, and it's a good song.
'Bang the Doldrums' has a very addictive melody, that is both unique and entrancing. I hear a slight Panic! At the Disco influence in the beginning of the first verse. 'Fame < Infamy' likes the guitar sound too, and this song has some different and true lyrics. 'You're Crashing But You're No Wave' is very much like a story, and the vocals are very fitting and are almost narrative. 'I've Got All This Ringing In My Ears And None On My Fingers' reminds me of seventies disco in the beginning, and then slightly of 'The Killers'' latest album 'Sam's Town' with the vocals.
Overall, I was very surprised and pleased in the album, I like it a lot.
Album rating: Four out of five stars.

Katharine McPhee Album Review Posted by Tiff on 31 Jan 2007
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
'American Idol' season five runner-up Katharine McPhee finally released her self-titled debut label album on January 30.
The album is classified as Pop, but it's really more of an Urban Pop. Songs like 'Over It,' 'Not Ur Girl,' and 'Open Toes' have potential to be catchy. 'Love Story' is quite odd, kind of a K.T. Tunstall meets the Supremes, odd combination, right? 'Better Off Alone' is a ballad that has a very old-school feel to it, I could see it in a sad post-break-up scene in a movie. Like Chris Daughtry, Katherine has a song with the word 'Home' in it. This song is more like a 'can you relate?' sort of story. 'Ordinary World' reminds me of a Disney movie. 'Everywhere I Go,' 'Each Other,' and 'Neglected' have a very R&B; feel to them, which works well with her voice. 'Dangerous' reminds me of Kylie Minogue. And truly, 'Do What You Do' is a mix of all kinds of styles, and I think forgettable and cliche. It's got a bit of Gwen Stefani sound, and all kinds of R&B;, there's even a little Britney in there.
Basically, I think Katharine tried to make an album that would see, and I guess I can't blame her for that. It's really not anything I'd listen to, but some people will like it. And even if we bash her a little here and there, we still think she's gorgeous, and the girl can sing.
Album Rating: Two and a half out of five stars. Download this: 'Over It
