ImageCNN's Lou Dobbs Refuses to Reject Idea of Impeaching Bush
CNN anchor Lou Dobbs appeared with the ladies on ABC's The View on Thursday to deliver some rather liberal opinions. He stumped for a minimum wage increase, railed against the influence big corporations have on politics, and pushed for universal health care. Annual Awards Issue
The Best Notable Quotables of 2006

A panel of 58 leading media observers has selected the winners of MRC's Best Notable Quotables of 2006: The Nineteenth Annual Awards for the Years Worst Reporting. Categories include the Madness of King George Award for Bush Bashing, The Drowning Polar Bear Award for Promoting Gores Inconvenient Truth, and the ever-popular Good Morning Morons Award. New York Times publisher Arthur Sulzberger, Jr., picked up the dubious distinction of winning Quote of the Year for a left-wing rant he delivered at a college commencement ceremony in May; runner-up Rosie ODonnell declared that radical Christianity is just as threatening as radical Islam. For a complete rundown of this year's winners, as well as audio and video clips of the broadcast quotes, see The Best Notable Quotables of 2006.

Image Bozell's News Column
Diversity for Diversitys Sake
The historic Democratic presidential primaries of 2008 are kicking in already, and the online announcements of Senators Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton have spun the media into a frothy sweet Frappucino of giddiness. Between praise for Obamas fluid poetry and Hillarys hot factor from her ever-popular husband, Ive already had just enough of this pandering.

Notable Quotables
ImageAwed by "Multitasking" Pelosi
The media were thrilled that a liberal Democratic woman was taking over as Speaker of the House, with ABC's Charles Gibson cooing about seeing Nancy Pelosi holding her six-month-old grandson on the House floor: "It seemed the ultimate in multitasking: Taking care of the children, and the country." Plus, CNN's Jack Cafferty is angry Democrats aren't racing to impeach President Bush for his "crimes," NBC's Andrea Mitchell denies anyone at her network -- including Chris Matthews -- is a "liberal thinker," and Newsweek's Eleanor Clift says Al Gore "is now in contention as a possible presidential candidate....Hooray that he is back!"

Media Reality Check
TV's Pre-Emptive War Against Iraq "Surge"

ImageBy the time President Bush delivered his Iraq speech Wednesday night, the news media had spent several days engaged in what the military calls "preparing the battlefield." The medias air war against the plan to try to actually win the Iraq war assured that most of Bushs audience would have already heard journalists claiming the new mission is wrong-headed and doomed to failure.

Special Report
ImageThe Iraq War on Cable TV
A new MRC study comparing the Fox News Channel's coverage of the war in Iraq with that of CNN and MSNBC finds that Fox had the most balanced approach while its competitors emphasized a bad news agenda. CNN, in particular, went out of its way to emphasize alleged U.S. misdeeds like the killing of civilians in Haditha while providing less airtime to U.S. achievements like the killing of terrorist Abu Musab al-Zarqawi.
