PUERTO RICO
All airports across the island are open and operational day and night, with Luis Munoz Marin Airport in San Juan averaging 110 daily flights. Capacity is on the rise, with a current monthly seat volume of 391,000, as of Feb. 19. By July, seat capacity will increase by 81,000 and air access will be on par with levels of summer 2017. Growth is driven by newly established routes and existing frequency in addition to larger aircraft that results in higher seat capacity. The airport is served by Air Antilles Express, American Airlines, Air Century, Air Sunshine, Allegiant, Avianca, Cape Air, Condor, Copa, Delta, Frontier, InterCaribbean Airways, JetBlue, Liat, Pawa Dominicana, Seaborne, Southwest, Spirit, Sun Country, Tradewinds Aviation, United and Vieques Air Link.
Infrastructure
Nearly six months after Hurricane Maria made landfall on Sept. 20, 2017, 90% of the island has electric power, 98% has telecommunications services, 95% of Puerto Rico has running water (96.5% in San Juan). All hospitals are operational and more than 1,580 ATMs throughout the island are working.
The statistics were provided by the Puerto Rican government, which warned that much work remains to be done and crews were still finding unexpected damage. The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers estimates that power will be restored to all of Puerto Rico by May.
