WWE's upcoming Extreme Rules pay-per-view has been rebranded as Extreme Rules: The Horror Show.
"Will Banks become a double champion, or will Asuka continue to reign supreme on the red brand?" WWE posited on its site to promote the match between Raw Women's Champion Asuka and co-Tag Team Champion Sasha Banks. "Find out at WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show, streaming Sunday, July 19, at 7 ET/4 PT on the award-winning WWE Network!" At the time of this writing, it's unclear what the significance behind the added subtitle may be.
Spinning out of ECW One Night Stand in 2005 and 2006, Extreme Rules debuted in 2009 as a PPV in which nearly every match on the card features some form of hardcore stipulation. This includes Street Fights, Last Man Standing Matches and, of course, the titular Extreme Rules Match made popular by the aforementioned ECW.
Presently the only two matches on the card for Extreme Rules: The Horror Show are Asuka versus Sasha Banks for the Raw Women's Championship and Drew McIntyre versus Dolph Ziggler for the WWE Championship. Stipulations for either match have yet to be revealed.
WWE Extreme Rules: The Horror Show airs Sunday, July 19 at 7 p.m. ET/4 p.m. PT on WWE Network.
