Executive Orders

Since taking office, Mayor Johnson has signed dozens of executive orders — directives that carry the force of law — to set rules, policies, and procedures that make Chicago safer and more affordable for all residents. Mayor Johnson’s orders have ranged from creating ICE-Free Zones and establishing Chicago’s first-ever Office of Gun Violence Reduction to regulating data centers and removing hiring barriers to City jobs for skilled applicants without college degrees. The Protecting Chicago executive orders established the blueprint for responding to federal overreach that has been adopted by cities, towns, and counties nationwide — protecting more than 10% of America’s total population.
