OIP Announces New FOIA Training Dates for Fiscal Year 2027

Today, the Office of Information Policy (OIP) announces new dates for Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) training for Fiscal Year 2027. As part of its responsibility to encourage agency compliance with the FOIA, OIP offers numerous training opportunities throughout the year for agency FOIA professionals and individuals with FOIA responsibilities.

These courses are designed to provide training opportunities for personnel at all stages of the FOIA workforce, from new hires to experienced FOIA professionals and FOIA managers. As we move into Fiscal Year 2027, OIP will continue to offer virtual training sessions taught in real time by OIP instructors. Additionally, OIP is pleased to announce it will also host a brand-new hybrid virtual/in-person training event on a wide variety of FOIA topics during the week prior to Sunshine Week (March 8-10, 2027). Training courses are open to all federal government employees. Descriptions of each course and registration links are available on the Training page of OIP’s website.

OIP manages all virtual training registration through WebEx. Registration will open one month prior to each training date. Once registration opens, you may register by providing your name and email address through WebEx for the applicable course. Each attendee must register separately using their own government email address. Registration details for the March Sunshine Week training, and other details will be announced in a subsequent blog post. OIP does not accept registration requests for these courses outside of designated registration options.

Please note that these training sessions are open to government personnel and contractors only. Once you are registered, you will receive a confirmation email from WebEx.

OIP is also available to provide individualized training sessions to interested agencies during the months of October, January, March and June. These sessions can be tailored to meet an agency’s specific training needs.
