London’s first opportunity charged buses have entered service on route 132 (North Greenwich – Bexleyheath), operated by Go-Ahead London, during July.

Eighteen BYD/Alexander Dennis Enviro400EVs were registered in February but entry into service was delayed whilst charging infrastructure, including an opportunity charging gantry, was installed at Bexleyheath garage.

The introduction of opportunity charged buses on route 358 (Orpington – Crystal Palace), planned as part of a Transport for London sponsored trial, has moved a step closer with the ordering of 20 Irizar i-tram battery electric buses (Look in on London August 2021). Installation of charging gantries at both termini is expected to be completed in early 2023.
