Having a job is about more than earning a wage. It can bring stability, confidence and choices. But for some young people in Aberdeen, barriers to work can make building a secure future harder. Local businesses have launched NEON Aberdeen to bring together employers and organisations together to create opportunities for young people at risk of homelessness and support them into sustainable work. Employment is a key part of Homewards Aberdeen’s prevention approach because of the stability it can provide. And if we can recognise when people are struggling we can support them so that they don’t reach crisis point. By acting earlier, together we can prevent homelessness. #AberdeenPrevents Find out more: https://lnkd.in/ebdVqpED The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales (Data source: Skills Development Scotland (2025), Annual Participation Measure)

About us
Homelessness isn’t inevitable. It can be prevented. Aberdeen Prevents is helping people across the city see homelessness differently, understand where it can begin and recognise the part we can all play in prevention. Behind the campaign, Homewards Aberdeen brings local organisations, businesses, leaders and people with lived experience together to understand the pressures that can lead to homelessness and where earlier action can make a difference. Because the earlier we understand where homelessness can begin, the earlier we can help prevent it. Find out more on our website.

Homelessness in Aberdeen can be closer to home than we realise. It doesn’t always mean sleeping on the streets. It can affect young people, working people and families, often in ways we don’t immediately see. But it isn’t inevitable. Three years ago, partners across Aberdeen came together through Homewards Aberdeen around a shared belief: homelessness can be prevented. Since then, they’ve been working together to understand what puts people at risk and how earlier action can help. And that means changing the conversation too. Aberdeen Prevents is about helping people across the city recognise homelessness differently, understand what prevention can look like and see the part we can all play. Because if we can see the risk earlier, we can act earlier. And together, we can prevent homelessness. #Aberdeenprevents #WorldHomelessDay The Royal Foundation of The Prince and Princess of Wales (Data Source: Scottish Government (2026),Youth Homelessness in Scotland)
