About us

Most companies make you choose between speed, quality, and cost. AFT was built so you don't have to. We combine fastener distribution and in-house plating and finishing under one operation — which means we control the variables that matter most to your supply chain. No middlemen. No markup on finishing. No waiting on a third party. From common hardware to hard-to-find specialty fasteners, MIL-Spec to metric, domestic to global — we've got the inventory, the vendors, and the capabilities to deliver. Plating finishes available in-house: black oxide, electroless nickel, silver, tin, phosphate, dry film lube, wet paint, Xylan, and more. In-house kitting, painted fasteners heads, and pre-applied thread lockers. Ready to simplify your supply chain? Let's talk.

  • When measuring the strength of a fastener, there are a few terms that can be thrown around. However, it’s important to use the correct term to avoid damage to joints and costly downtime. Save this post for a quick explainer of three of the most popular measurements of fastener strength: 🔧Proof load is the largest load a material can withstand before there is permanent damage, as opposed to an amount of pressure. ⚙️Tensile strength is the highest amount of pressure a material can take before it elongates to the point of completely breaking. 🔩Yield strength denotes the most amount of stress a material can take before its shape deforms to a point where it cannot go back to its original shape. Next time you are measuring the strength of a fastener, double check to make sure you’re using the right term. A variety of high-strength fasteners are available on our website: https://lnkd.in/gDqsjRh8 #aftfasteners #fastenertips #tensilestrength #yieldstrength #proofload

  • With countless fastener coatings and countless environments fasteners can be used in, it can be difficult to find the right coating to use in the appropriate environment. Luckily, we have you covered. Here’s a quick guide to which finishes are best for different environments: 🏠Dry indoor environments: Plain finishes are a cost-efficient option for bone-dry indoor environments 💧Humid indoor environments: Zinc or phosphate finishes have a moderate level of corrosion resistance for indoor environments with some exposure to moisture 🚧Outdoor/construction environments: Hot-dip galvanized finishes provide an additional layer of protection against corrosion for a wide variety of outdoor weather 🌊Coastal/marine environments: Hot-dip galvanized or ceramic finishes provide adequate corrosion resistance for the harshness of coastal environments Before your next project, make sure you order fasteners with the right finish to avoid costly joint failure and time delays. AFT has a wide selection of finishes available in our in-house plating facility: https://lnkd.in/gsjy2QTY #aftfasteners #fastenerindustry #fastenerplating #corrosionresistance

  • Loosening under vibration is one of the most common issues applications face. One way to solve it? Use a jam nut! In many applications, a standard jam nut can be tightened alongside another nut to “jam” the latter nut into place, providing additional resistance to vibration. All it takes is a few simple steps: ✅Sit the jam nut on top of the bolt ✅Place the standard or heavy hex nut on top of the jam nut ✅Hold one nut still while you tighten the other, jamming the threads together and creating a locking mechanism If your application needs an efficient and precise way to protect against vibration, consider using a jam nut. Shop them on AFT’s website: https://lnkd.in/gfQPBhCH #aftfasteners #jamnuts #fastenerengineering

  • Thread count and thread pitch, while they sound similar, are two distinct measurements that can be catastrophic to fastener orders if swapped. 🔩Thread count is the amount of threads per inch (TPI), and is used with imperial fasteners. The higher thread count, the finer threads. 📏Thread pitch is the distance between threads in millimeters, and is used with metric fasteners. The smaller thread pitch, the finer threads. ‼️Swapping up these two measurements while ordering fasteners can lead to cross threading or joint failure, which can lead to expensive downtime and repairs. Make sure you are ordering the correct spec, because a one-word difference can be damaging. Check out both fasteners with both metric and imperial sizing on AFT’s website: https://lnkd.in/gYMUNSUF #aftfasteners #fastenerindustry #procurement #threadpitch

  • Fastener terminology mixups can be common when placing orders. One mixup that is very common, but also very costly, is hex bolts vs hex cap screws. There are a few distinct differences between the two: ⚙️Hex cap screws feature a washer face under the head and a chamfered tip/threads, hex bolts do not feature either 📐Hex cap screws are used in more precise applications that require a higher tolerance, such as OEM 🔩Hex bolts are meant to be used with a nut, whereas hex cap screws do not always require one Choosing the wrong fastener can lead to costly downtime, structural failure, cross-threading, or issues with the clamping force. Whichever fastener you need, AFT has a wide selection: https://lnkd.in/gf_ah3t6 #aftfasteners #fastenersupplier #procurement

  • Corrosion is one of the most common issues fastener users come across. But did you know that many fasteners designed to resist corrosion can actually cause galvanic corrosion when paired with the wrong metal? Galvanic corrosion is an electrochemical process where one metal corrodes rapidly when in contact with a more noble metal and an electrolyte (i.e. rain or other moisture). This can lead to expensive repair costs and downtime. Luckily, there are steps you can take to prevent it. Mainly, pay close attention to metal pairings like aluminum and copper or steel and stainless steel all of which commonly lead to galvanic corrosion. Adding insulation or coatings can also reduce this risk. Always be sure to double check to make sure you are using compatible metals to prevent galvanic corrosion. • When you’re sourcing fasteners for critical applications, just hearing “you can trust us” isn’t good enough, you need proof. That’s why AFT Fasteners is ISO 900:2015 certified. An ISO 9001:2015 certification verifies that an organization’s quality management system meets the international ISO 9001 standard. In other words, it means that a company delivers products consistently, efficiently, and in a way that meets expectations of customers and regulations alike. At AFT, this translates into all of our parts being backed by documented quality control, traceable materials, and strict corrective action processes for if things go wrong. For distributors and buyers, this means more predictable lead times and consistent part quality. Certifications don’t guarantee perfection, but they do guarantee accountability. That’s the standard we hold ourselves to. See it in action: aftfasteners.com #aftfasteners #fasteners #qualitycontrol #ISO9001
