  • As reported by FOX29 News, Anapol Weiss, alongside the EdTech Law Center, is representing seven Lower Merion families fighting the school district's new mandatory technology policy.   Since the district updated its policy, parents can no longer opt their children out of educational technology or work with their school's principal to develop a tech-free alternative. At Anapol Weiss, we're representing parents who are concerned about the overuse of technology in their children's classrooms and fighting to protect parents' rights to keep their children safe. • College football is in full swing, and so are the pervasive "bet now" prompts flooding everyone’s notifications. For many fans, a casual wager on Saturday's game has turned into something much harder to walk away from. Sports betting apps are built to keep users betting: push notifications during live games, in-app bonuses for placing "just one more" bet, and interfaces designed to make stopping the hardest part.  Anapol Weiss represents individuals and families harmed by sports betting platforms designed to draw vulnerable users into compulsive gambling and financial devastation.  If sports betting has taken a toll on you or someone you love this season, you may have legal options. • As reported by The Legal Intelligencer, Anapol Weiss Partner Patrick Huyett, alongside the EdTech Law Center, is representing seven families in a federal lawsuit challenging Lower Merion School District’s mandatory technology policy. The suit alleges that requiring students to use internet-connected, school-issued devices, with no opt-out for objecting families, violates parents’ fundamental right to direct their children’s upbringing and safeguard their health, safety and privacy. At Anapol Weiss, we understand the harms of unrestricted internet access for children, from exposure to inappropriate content to increased opportunities for predators to target them. We are fighting alongside these families for meaningful safeguards and the freedom to make informed decisions about technology that is appropriate for their children. In this video, Associate Dominique Montoya explains how Anapol Weiss builds these cases: by bringing in medical experts in the same field as the doctor involved to review the medical records, evaluate the injuries, and determine whether that doctor met the accepted standard of care. • Anapol Weiss Shareholder Alexandra Walsh spoke with Law360 about Roblox’s renewed push to force a Kentucky mother’s wrongful death lawsuit into arbitration, arguing that her daughter agreed to its terms of service at eight years old. “These companies profited from a child’s use of their platforms and now want to escape accountability for her death. Jaimee Seitz deserves to have a jury decide whether they are responsible, and we intend to make them answer in open court,” Walsh said. • Anapol Weiss has filed a new lawsuit on behalf of a patient whose LINX Reflux Management System failed after implantation to treat chronic acid reflux. The LINX device is a small ring of magnetic beads placed around the esophagus. When it works as intended, the magnets help keep the valve at the bottom of the esophagus closed, stopping stomach acid from flowing back up while still letting food pass through. In 2018, the manufacturer recalled more than 9,000 devices after finding a manufacturing problem that could cause the beads to separate, leaving patients with an open, non-functioning implant. Many patients were never told their device was affected.  Shareholder Kila Baldwin is leading the firm's LINX cases against Torax Medical and Ethicon, a Johnson & Johnson subsidiary. The firm is reviewing and accepting more cases at this time.  If you had a LINX device implanted and suffered harm or needed surgery to remove or replace it, you may have legal options. All consultations are free and confidential. Contact us today. Learn more here: https://lnkd.in/gGKKTitW #LINX #MedicalDeviceMalfunction #ProductLiability

  • Shareholder Kristen Gibbons Feden joined NBC News NOW to discuss new developments in the investigation into the alleged sexual assault of a Cornell University student in 2024. She weighed in on a campus crime log showing that Cornell police made a drug-related arrest at the fraternity hours before the student says she was assaulted there, and explained how investigators could use that information. "Whenever you have an investigation, you cannot investigate the facts in isolation. Here you have both events occurring at the same chapter house less than 24 hours apart," Kristen said. • Anapol Weiss Shareholder Larry E. Coben's latest opinion piece in The Legal Intelligencer looks at why many vehicle seats can fail in highway-speed rear-end collisions.   The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's seat back strength standard is more than 50 years old, and the agency still has not issued the new rule after it said one was needed in 2024. Coben argues that, in the meantime, common law product liability is what pushes manufacturers toward safer seat designs. "When a manufacturer decides to make safety a low priority, it takes the risk that it will be liable for harm caused by putting profits before safety," Coben wrote.
