  • The right HVAC system starts with the right calculations. At ARCXIS, our HVAC designs use Manual J load calculations that account for the many factors that affect a home’s heating and cooling needs, including square footage, orientation, windows and doors, insulation, building envelope, climate, occupancy, and more. HVAC design means looking at the home as a complete system and using engineering data to determine what the home actually needs. Right-sized HVAC equipment helps avoid the added cost of oversized systems while supporting better comfort, efficiency, and performance over the life of the home. Ready to take the guesswork out of HVAC design? Talk with your ARCXIS team about how our engineers can help. • A HERS® Rating is more than a number. It’s the result of a process that combines modeling, inspection and real-world performance testing. At Arcxis, we’ve HERS-rated more than 200,000 homes over the past three years. That experience gives our teams a deep understanding of the data behind home performance and the importance of verifying how a home actually performs. For builders, that data is more than a score. It provides insight into where homes are performing well, where improvements can be made and how design and construction decisions can impact efficiency, comfort and long-term performance. Build with data. Verify the results. Improve with every home. A HERS® Rating isn't guesswork. Every rating includes on-site diagnostic testing, a blower door test to measure air leakage, and duct testing to measure air loss through the duct system. That measured data, not a visual inspection verified data and thorough inspection, is what produces the HERS® Index Score. #HERS Rating #BlowerDoorTest #DuctTesting #RESNET #BuildingScience

  • 💧 Did you know? Most water damage begins long before anyone sees a stain on the ceiling or wall. Small issues like missing flashing, improper drainage details, or installation errors can allow moisture to enter a building assembly unnoticed. By the time visible damage appears, repairs can be costly. Good moisture management isn't just about keeping water out. It's about protecting the long-term durability of the home. Contact ARCXIS today. We can inspect for potential moisture issues before it’s too late. https://arcxis.com/markets #BuildingScience #ConstructionQuality #Homebuilding #RiskManagement #ResidentialConstruction #ARCXIS #Builders

  • What if your home’s performance could be measured in more than energy savings? The HERS Carbon Index® from RESNET gives builders another way to evaluate and communicate the environmental performance of their homes. The index measures a home’s greenhouse gas emissions in CO₂e and considers not only how much energy a home uses, but when that energy is consumed. This creates an opportunity to look beyond the traditional HERS Index and better understand how design and efficiency strategies can impact a home’s carbon footprint. ARCXIS can help you put the data to work. Our HERS Rating professionals can help builders evaluate energy performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and leverage performance data to support their sustainability goals. The data tells the story: new homes are getting more energy efficient, and the progress is measurable. In 2025, more than 420,000 homes were HERS® rated through RESNET, with the average HERS® Index Score reaching 53. But the number is more than just a score. A HERS rating is a process that includes inspection, testing and analysis by a certified HERS Rater, resulting in a verified measure of a home’s energy performance. RESNET’s latest Data Trends Report shows the average HERS® Index Score has continued to improve over the past 11 years, reflecting meaningful improvements in home design, construction and energy performance. At Arcxis, we’re proud to contribute to that progress. Our energy teams work with builders across the country to rate, verify and help improve the performance of new homes, turning energy goals into measurable results. It’s encouraging to see the industry’s progress reflected in the data.  Contact your #local ARCXIS rep today: https://arcxis.com/markets #HERSIndex #RESNET #EnergyEfficientHomes #HighPerformanceHomes #NewConstruction https://lnkd.in/gWE-2tZE

Homes built today perform demonstrably better than they did a decade ago, and the data proves it. In 2025, the Residential Energy Services Network (RESNET®) rated more than 420,000 homes, with the average HERS® Index Score reaching 53. This shows a steady decline over the last 11 years that reflects real improvements in how homes are built. Every score comes from an independent inspection by a certified RESNET® HERS® Rater. It isn't self-reported progress, it's verified. That verified data is all detailed in our annual RESNET® Data Trends Report in HERS® Rated Homes. The report begins with national, state, and city-level trends in HERS® Ratings and average HERS® Index Scores. The remainder focuses on detailed trends, including a breakdown of the characteristics of rated homes and individual building components. It covers building envelope components, air leakage rates, equipment efficiencies, and the use of solar. The full report is available for free to members of RESNET®'s Suppliers Advisory Board. Non-members may purchase a copy for $495. Learn more at https://lnkd.in/e9RFm2Xq #HERSIndex #HomeEnergyScore #NewConstruction #EnergyEfficientHomes #HighPerformanceHomes #RESNET #DataTrendsReport

  • A new chapter for healthier, high-performance homes is coming. Beginning January 1, 2027, homes permitted under the EPA’s Indoor AirPlus program will transition to Indoor AirPlus Version 2, replacing Version 1. The updated program introduces new certification levels and enhanced requirements focused on indoor air quality, moisture management, HVAC systems, combustion venting, radon protection, and low-emitting materials. For builders, the transition means planning matters. Understanding the new requirements now can help prevent surprises in the field and keep projects moving smoothly when the new version takes effect. Our team can work with builders to understand the V2 requirements, identify potential challenges, and integrate Indoor AirPlus into the home’s overall energy and performance strategy. Ready for the transition? Start preparing now. • Most inspection failures don’t originate during construction. The issues start much earlier, with: - Missing details in construction plans - Details that don’t reflect site conditions - Designs that don’t account for constructability - Unclear or incomplete structural and MEP designs - Lack of training and coordination between trades - Assumptions made without field validation - Gaps between what was designed and the materials that show up on site The real opportunity is upstream precision with designs that anticipate constructability, trade coordination, and field conditions. Arcxis supports builders by aligning engineering and designs with field realities before construction begins, helping reduce failures, rework, and unhappy homebuyers.
