The browser and search engine that save you time and keep you safe.
About us
Brave is building a user-first Web. The Brave browser is used by over 128 million people worldwide. It blocks third-party ads and trackers by default for fast, private browsing. It also offers a wealth of helpful features including a VPN and an AI browsing assistant. Brave is one of just three Web search indexes at scale in the West, and it’s the only one commercially available in a reliable, independent Search API. It provides users with accurate, AI-enhanced answers without profiling them. Brave Search is available as the default search engine in Brave, or via any other browser at search.brave.com. The Brave Search API helps organizations supply their AI LLMs with real-time data, power agentic search, train foundation models, and create search-enabled software. The Brave Search API helps anyone—from hobbyists to large enterprises—build applications that benefit from having access to the Web, going beyond the static knowledge of AI models. Our API uses our own search index so we can guarantee the highest privacy and security standards. Brave is also reinventing digital advertising. Users can opt into our privacy-first digital ads platform to earn crypto rewards for their attention. Advertisers get access to engaged, otherwise unreachable audiences. Creators can unlock new revenue streams. Brave Software is an independent company founded in 2015 by Brendan Eich, creator of JavaScript and co-founder of Mozilla (Firefox), and Brian Bondy, formerly of Khan Academy and Mozilla.

Is your browser protecting you from fingerprinting? Websites collect information on your device and browser in order to identify you and track you across the Web. TweakTown's Yasir Mahmood tested four major browsers and found that Brave was the only one that was randomizing his laptop's fingerprint to protect his privacy. Our fingerprinting protections apply whether you're using a normal or private window. You don't have to adjust any settings or use any extra extensions. Privacy is the default with Brave. https://lnkd.in/e7ymWVCz

Brave’s AI assistant, Leo, can now run on private inference from NEAR AI. Your chats stay sealed in hardware that no one can read. Not the data center. Not NEAR AI. Not even Brave. It’s available to every Leo user today with GLM 5.3 Flash, end-to-end encrypted from the browser into a secure enclave (TEE) on NEAR AI Cloud. Why it matters: people ask AI about their health, their money and their work. Most assistants protect those chats with a policy, a promise only the provider can check. This is proof: → Your prompt is encrypted in your browser and only decrypted inside the enclave. → NEAR AI’s enclaves prove the hardware and code they run. → Brave’s open-source verifier checks that proof before a single prompt is sent. → Brave’s relay strips your IP, so we never learn who is asking. "AI has raised the stakes, yet too much of it still runs on 'trust me bro' promises, often at the user's expense." Brendan Eich, CEO of Brave Thank you, Brave, for setting the bar at proof, not promises. Building a product that handles data people care about? The same private AI inference runs on NEAR AI Cloud. Leo, the AI assistant in Brave, now offers end-to-end encrypted chat with GLM 5.3 Flash! Your browser encrypts each prompt before it leaves your device, so only an attested Trusted Execution Environment (TEE) can decrypt it. It's industry-leading privacy you can verify: https://lnkd.in/eDcvRpPk People often discuss sensitive subjects with AI, including their health and finances. With most AI services, those chats end up on someone else's servers. They can be used for training, linked to your profile, handed to courts, or leaked. You lose control of your conversations. We built end-to-end encrypted Brave AI to ensure your private conversations stay private. Brave and NEAR AI never hold a readable copy of your chats. Your history stays on your device. The model's maker never sees your words. Attestation proves which model is answering you. Too often, AI privacy comes down to a provider saying "trust us." But you shouldn't have to trust providers. You should be able to check their claims too. That's why we built AI with verifiable privacy. In November 2025, we brought confidential computing to Brave AI using NEAR AI's NVIDIA-backed Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs). These TEEs encrypted user chats and created reports proving the correct model was used and that your chat was private: https://lnkd.in/eZBkgAha However, our work wasn't done. The privacy protections rested on policy, not cryptography. And Brave's servers checked the TEEs' proofs, so the verification itself meant trusting Brave. We had two goals: open-source every stage, and move verification closer to you. Today we accomplished those goals and more. Brave AI chat with open-weight GLM 5.3 Flash, running in NEAR AI TEEs, is now end-to-end encrypted. The code that verifies the TEE, encrypts your messages, and relays them is open source. Here's how it works... First, the TEE proves itself. Your browser only gets an encryption key after the server proves it's genuine hardware running the exact model and code you expect. If anything's off, no message is sent. Next, your browser locks your prompt so only that verified server can open it. It travels through a relay that sees your IP address but not your words. The server sees your words but never your IP. No one sees both. Replies will come back locked, too. Finally, the AI runs inside the secure server, in hardware-protected memory that not even the cloud host can see into. If the AI searches the web, the query goes out from inside the server instead of your browser, so it's not tied to your IP. Queries are not stored. These privacy protections won't slow you down, though. In our testing, a 19.9-second chat request spent 297 microseconds encrypting the prompt and 5.76 milliseconds decrypting the streamed reply. End-to-end encrypted Brave AI chat is available today in all channels (Nightly, Beta, and Release). To get started, select "GLM 5.3 Flash" from the model selection menu in Leo.

You can now stack tabs in split view so one appears on top of the other. ☺️ Just click the split view icon to the left of the address bar and select "Show stacked." To change it back, click "Show side by side" in that menu. Quick refresher on split view: To make a split view, right-click a tab (or select two tabs) and select "Add tab to new split view." You can also right-click a link and choose "Open link in split view." Click and drag the line in the middle to adjust the size of the tabs. Split view is a handy feature for work and fun so we hope you're using it!

Brave is the best way to watch YouTube but it's ALSO the best way to listen to YouTube. 🎧 The browser supports background play on Android and iOS so you can keep listening to videos when you're viewing other apps or when your screen is locked. To use this feature on Android, go to Settings -> Media and make sure "Background play" is enabled. On iOS, this setting is called "Enable Background Audio" but is also located at Settings -> Media.
