  • Queer Shed Sligo invite you to Futurum: Sustainable crafts. Making is one of our primary ways of surviving. Workshops include: 🧶 Knit Repair with Kim O’Driscoll (Monday 9th) 3️⃣ 3D‑printed ceramics with Stuart Lawn and Bettina Seitz from Manorhamilton FabLab (Tuesday 10th) ♻️ Eco printing on cellulose textiles with Malú Colorín (Wednesday 11th) 📆 Monday November 9th - Wednesday 11th ⏰ 4pm, daily 📍Ard Voltas Art Studios, Sligo 🎟️ €10 per event (+ bf) 🌈 Queer folks and allies are especially invited. • ❓ What could AI become when communities help shape it from the start? Join designer Nathan Costello for a talk on Simulated Storytelling, a critical design project reimagining the Irish storyteller as a social robot. Using research through design, it was developed in collaboration with the community of Camp on the Dingle Peninsula, through fieldwork and staged storytelling sessions with local residents, a traditional musician and a practising seanchaí. Responding to our theme of 🇮🇪 ‘Fáilte Future Europe’ 🇪🇺, Costello says, “Fáilte sits at the heart of that question. The seanchaí tradition was built on welcome, with stories told in homes where anyone could walk in. The project carries that spirit into how AI is designed.” 🤖 A live storytelling session with the robot follows the talk. 📆 Monday November 9 ⏰ 6.30pm 📍The Harry Clarke, Lecture Theatre, NCAD, Dublin. 🎟️ Free (unticketed) Sponsored by National College of Art & Design Irish Design Week 2026 is brought to you by Design & Crafts Council Ireland. #IrishDesignWeek2026 #IDW2026

  • Ahead of our programme reveal ,we are sharing insights into our identity and how designer Oscar Torrans addressed the brief. 🇪🇺 “Based on this year’s theme ‘Fáilte Future Europe’, we wanted to explore the past, present, and future through craft, technology and the unknown,” explains Torrans. 🪨 “We looked at traditional Irish materials such as clay and stone, alongside impossible forms created through digital software, using them as the foundation for our typographic forms. “We then recreated these materials digitally in 3D, before 3D printing them back into physical objects. This process moves between the physical past and digital future, using technology to reimagine traditional materials while reverting them into something tangible in an ongoing conversation.” 💫 Irish Design Week (IDW) brings together designers, makers, businesses, cultural organisations, educators and creative leaders from Ireland and across Europe for a week-long celebration of design in all its forms. 🗓️ November 7-14 📍 Nationwide ℹ️ Tuesday September 27 Irish Design Week 2026 is brought to you by Design & Crafts Council Ireland. #IrishDesignWeek2026 #IDW2026 Design & Crafts Council Ireland Oscar Torrans
