Myth: AI replaces SOC analysts Verdict: Busted Four myths about the agentic SOC keep coming up in board meetings, analyst Slack channels, and vendor evaluations. Does AI make the security call? Does it eliminate investigations? Do AI agents need their own security oversight? We're breaking down all four, with the real story behind each one. 🎙️ "And that's when I see this README file... I knew right then before even opening it… it's a ransom note." It's the moment every security leader dreads. You find the note, your stomach drops, and the crisis becomes real. On the latest episode of The New CISO Podcast, host Stephen Moore and guest Zach Lewis, CIO & CISO at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, walk through the very first seconds of a breach — and the consequences that arise soon after. Catch the rest of the episode to hear how that breach shaped Zach’s career, and why he chose to write a book to air his “dirty laundry" for the good of the security community. • Securing the Agentic Enterprise: Live from #CISOXSweden! What happens when the "insider threat" isn't a person, but an autonomous AI agent?️ We had an incredible day at #CISOXSweden, connecting with top cybersecurity leaders to dissect the rapidly evolving threat landscape and what it takes to secure what lies ahead. The highlight of our day? Exabeam’s very own Hans Diederen, Principal Solutions Engineer, taking the stage. In his captivating Tech Tale, “Who’s Watching Your AI Agents?”, Hans exposed a critical blind spot: how the explosive rise of autonomous AI agents and machine identities is redefining the insider threat. The key takeaway? As organisations embrace AI at scale, static security isn't enough. Continuous behavioural intelligence is now the frontline defence. To truly secure the agentic enterprise, we must: - Deeply understand autonomous agent activity. - Instantly detect behavioural drift and anomalous patterns. - Rapidly neutralise emerging risks before they escalate. A massive thank you to the outstanding EDS Xseries team for uniting this incredible community, and to everyone who joined us to spark these crucial conversations! #CyberSecurity #AI #AISecurity #AIAgents #InsiderThreat #CISO #Exabeam

  • That's a wrap on another successful GovWare in Singapore! Over the past few days, we had the privilege of meeting security leaders, practitioners, and partners from across the region to discuss the trends shaping the future of cybersecurity. As organizations rapidly transition to the agentic enterprise, one theme stood out: security teams must move beyond traditional static controls. Securing the agentic enterprise requires behavioral intelligence to understand and govern the actions of both human and non-human identities. Helping teams transition to an Agentic SOC is the key to accelerating threat detection, investigation and response at machine speed. Thank you to everyone who stopped by the Exabeam booth, attended our Tech Talk session, and contributed to these critical conversations. The dialogue doesn't end here. Let's continue working together to build a more resilient, AI-driven defense strategy! #Exabeam #GovWare2026 #AgenticSOC #BehaviorIntelligence #InsiderThreat #AIAgents #Cybersecurity Kevin Kirkwood Leonardo H. 🎙️ "Am I gonna lose my job? Am I just working this to the end? Do I need to be job hunting while doing all this?" Imagine the pressure of not knowing if you'll have a job tomorrow while simultaneously trying to manage the worst day of your career. It’s a scenario many in cybersecurity know all too well. But as Zach Lewis, CIO & CISO at the University of Health Sciences and Pharmacy in St. Louis, explains, there may be a career rainbow at the end of the storm — that is, if the stress of the breach doesn’t get to you first. On the latest episode of The New CISO Podcast, host Stephen Moore sits down with Zach to unpack the raw, unfiltered reality of leading through a ransomware attack, and how that experience can permanently shape a CISO’s outlook on leadership. Catch the rest of the show to hear how to ask for the role you want, why a “dream job” might become a nightmare, and how to juggle the CIO and CISO hats. • Ask a security leader what scares them most right now, and the answer isn't hackers. It's their own AI agents. We surveyed 600 security and finance leaders, and 48% now rank AI agents with excessive, compromised, or unintended access as the single greatest threat to their organization — ahead of external attackers, human insiders, and basically everything else. AI agents move fast, touch everything, and nobody's fully aware of how. So, your biggest insider might not be human. • Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella’s recent X article argues that we should treat powerful AI models as insider risks. My takeaway: observation is the starting point. We also need a baseline of normal behavior for each agent. Which systems does it normally connect to? What permissions does it normally use? What actions fit its role? That context helps us spot changes worth investigating: unfamiliar systems, unnecessary permissions, or data pulled outside the agent’s usual pattern. An agent may be using valid credentials. But valid access doesn’t make its behavior normal. Observe the activity. Establish the baseline. Detect the deviations. AI is the new insider. Do you know what normal looks like? #AISecurity #InsiderRisk #BehavioralAnalytics #Cybersecurity

  • Greetings from GovWare2026! If you're exploring how to adopt AI securely while strengthening your security operations, make sure to visit the Exabeam team at Booth #Q09. Discover how we leverage advanced security automation to boost SOC efficiency, while applying behavioral analytics to monitor enterprise AI workloads and detect anomalies early. And be sure to join our CISO, Kevin Kirkwood, for his Tech Talk: The Agent in the SOC: I Built a Bot and I Kept It 📅 Wednesday, 14 October | 3:20 PM 📍 Level B2, Exhibition Hall While automated digital workers accelerate the SOC, they can also introduce new risks if left unmanaged, including the exposure of critical decision-making logic that adversaries could exploit. Join Kevin’s session for a CISO's perspective on securing these non-human identities. You will learn practical strategies for identity governance, tool restrictions, and comprehensive telemetry to detect behavioral drift before it turns into a security incident. Drop by and say hello! We'd love to connect and learn more about your security priorities and challenges. Our team will be onsite with live demos and sharing insights on how behavioral intelligence can help your organization strengthen insider threat detection, streamline compliance, and improve overall security outcomes. #GovWare2026 #Exabeam #Cybersecurity #AgenticAI #AISecurity #SecurityOperations #InsiderRisk #BehavioralIntelligence Lind Say Lim Eko Iswadi Leonardo H. • An attacker doesn't need to look suspicious. They just need to look like a normal user long enough to access sensitive data. Rules-based detection is tough in this scenario because the credentials are valid. Behavioral analytics solves this by baselining normal activity for every user and asset, then scoring deviations. An example is a login from a location that account has never used, or a new device suddenly requesting authentication tickets. From credential theft to lateral movement and data exfiltration, insider threat use cases are multiplying. Dynamic risk scoring cuts investigation time from hours to minutes across all of them.
