We’ve reached Gluttony in our seven deadly sins of healthcare marketing. More appointments for everyone! Stewardship asks us to think a little further downstream: How can the work we do help people become healthier, not just become patients? This part of the series is heavily influenced by Dan Lavelle and we thank him for his collaboration. If you're going to be at #HCIC in Orlando later this month, drop by Unlock Health's booth 311 and Tracy will be happy to give you a look at this HRA. #healthcaremarketing #menopause #unlockHRA
When I tell people we created a new Health Risk Assessment focused on women's health, the response is almost always immediate: "YES! It's about time." Or……. “What made you think of that?" My answer is simple: The tides are shifting. Women's health, especially topics like perimenopause and menopause, is finally getting the attention it deserves. Conversations that were once considered taboo are happening everywhere. Women are sharing their experiences on podcasts, writing books, building communities, and advocating for better care. The medical community is listening, too. The American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) recently expanded its guidance on menopause management, including recommendations supporting hormone therapy as a primary treatment option for many women experiencing symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, and sleep disruption. For generations, women were often left to navigate these changes with little information and even less support. Not anymore. Because women's health matters. Because access to information matters. Because being heard matters. Our mothers and grandmothers sat in silence. We started the group chat. And that conversation is changing lives. #WomensHealth #MenopauseAwareness #HealthInnovation #EmployeeWellbeing #HealthEquity #WomenInLeadership #HealthcareTransformation @unlockhealthhra

Search. Social. YouTube. Demand Gen. Programmatic. CTV. Audio. Maps. HRAs. AI-assisted discovery. It’s a veritable smorgasbord of channel options. But healthcare doesn’t get to grab a plate and start piling on tactics like it’s a hotel breakfast. Every new channel creates new questions about what data is collected, how signals are passed back, what vendors can see, and whether performance can improve without putting privacy at risk. That doesn’t mean health systems have to eat carrots while retail dines on chocolate lava cake. It just means they need a plan before they dive in. Our latest article from Steven Plimmer looks at how healthcare marketers can diversify their channel mix while making sure their measurement is privacy safe. https://hubs.li/Q04yfqWj0

Your hospital has a great clinical reputation. Will that help when someone calls your new facility wasteful spending? Or when a legislator questions your prices? Clinical excellence has been the foundation of hospital reputation for decades. The arguments hospitals face today increasingly require people to trust the institution behind the care. Michael Petrone explores what health systems need to start building now. Next among the seven deadly sins of healthcare marketing: Greed. Because apparently one message is never enough. Discipline asks us to make some choices. Fewer audiences. Fewer messages. Fewer objectives. More clarity about what matters most. 3 — The number of people who think they own the same denial escalation. 2 — The number of weeks it takes to figure out who should actually make the decision. 1 — The number of times this should happen before you fix the governance problem. Healthcare revenue teams are moving faster than the structures meant to support them. Payor policies change, denials spike, people leave, and AI creates decisions nobody had to make six months ago. Meanwhile, too many decisions still move through hallway conversations, institutional memory, and meetings where everyone is informed but nobody is accountable. Unlock Health’s Kevin Thilborger and Brian Storts will be at the HFMA Region 2 annual meeting on October 14 to share a more practical approach in Governance in motion: leading revenue teams through constant change. They’ll look at how revenue teams can clarify who actually owns a decision, know when and where to escalate it, make competing priorities visible, and build a decision-making rhythm that can keep up when conditions change. Because when ownership is fuzzy, speed becomes luck. October 14-16 | HFMA Region 2

A patient who clicks “directions” may be closer to care than a patient who visits your homepage. A patient who calls from a search ad may be doing more than browsing. A patient who opens a location detail may already be deciding where to go. That’s especially true in action-oriented service lines like urgent care, where demand is local, immediate, and often measured before the website visit ever happens. The challenge for healthcare marketers is making sure their reporting reflects how patients actually move toward care. Our latest article from Steven Plimmer looks at what calls, maps, directions, device behavior, and HRAs can reveal about patient demand. https://hubs.li/Q04xy1YM0

I’m excited to be presenting with El Camino Health, Unlock Health, and Care Sherpa at HCIC this month! Jessica BartonJessica Walker Shauna Bushman As healthcare marketers, we put so much work into reaching the right people and creating awareness. But what happens after someone clicks an ad or completes a Health Risk Assessment? How do we help them take that next step? Our session, “Designing What Happens Next: Solving the Hand-off Problem in Digital Healthcare,” will explore how El Camino connects healthcare marketing, digital tools, and care navigation to help people move from interest to appropriate care. Clear ownership, coordinated handoffs, and proactive follow-up are a big part of that story. Our brand-new case study highlights this partnership through El Camino’s lung cancer screening program. I’m looking forward to sharing the work, what we’ve learned, and how healthcare marketing can create a more connected patient journey! 🗓️ October 27, 2026 🕥 10:30–11:15 a.m. ET Read the case study here: https://lnkd.in/givr_wiH If you’ll be at HCIC and would like to chat about healthcare marketing, digital activation, or HRAs, let me know.
