Several years ago, our fraud investigators started noticing an unusual trend. More and more claims for urinary catheters, knee braces and other durable medical equipment were coming in from out-of-network suppliers. The company names seemed odd, and they were often in obscure locations. And when we checked with members to ask about the equipment, they all told us the same thing: I never ordered that. Our fraud investigators partnered with law enforcement. In 2025, the Justice Department announced Operation Gold Rush, which produced the largest loss amount ever charged in a U.S. healthcare fraud case. While that justice was indeed victory, healthcare fraud is ever increasing. “What we continue to see nationally is these schemes are just getting bigger,” Kurt Spear, our vice president of FIPR, said. “They’re more complex, more sophisticated. They’re better financially backed as well.” Read more about how our fraud teams are fighting on behalf of members: https://lnkd.in/giHjUBgU

Your safety and trust are vital to us. We're aware of ongoing recruitment scams in which individuals falsely claim to represent our organization. We're actively monitoring and addressing these scams. However, because they originate outside of our systems, we cannot directly prevent all fraudulent activity. If you believe you have been targeted by a recruitment scam, reporting scams to the FBI is the most effective way to take action. In such an event, you should discontinue communication with the suspected scammer and report the incident to the FBI’s Internet Crime Complaint Center (IC3) at: https://www.ic3.gov If something feels suspicious, trust your instincts. Taking a moment to verify authenticity can protect your personal information and prevent fraud. Read more about what to look out for: https://bit.ly/4rZ8M37.

Nearly 10,000 people ran and walked in this year's Richard S. Caliguiri City of Pittsburgh Great Race, a fun community event and the largest 10K race in Pennsylvania. We're honored to have been the presenting sponsor, and Allegheny Health Network has been providing expert medical support at the finish line for decades. Thanks to the City of Pittsburgh and P3R for organizing this impactful event!

We were excited to join our partner, the Buffalo Bills, in unveiling the Victory Table: a healthy food and wellness truck designed to nourish our neighbors by expanding access to nutritious meals, nutrition education, and vital community resources across Western New York! Rooted in a shared commitment to improving community health, Victory Table was created to help address barriers that make it difficult for individuals and families to access healthy food and wellness support.
