Today I attended a Town Hall with Senator John Laird, who walked us through the 14 propositions on the November ballot. It was an informative conversation and a reminder of what's at stake and how important it is for all of us to understand what we are voting on before we cast our ballots. I especially appreciated the information presented around Proposition 1, the Veterans and Affordable Housing Bond Act, which Senator Laird has supported and helped strengthen. Affordable housing is critical to the health and stability of our communities, and this proposition represents an important investment in housing for Californians. I’m grateful for opportunities like today’s Town Hall that help voters become more informed and engaged. Let’s get engaged. And let’s make sure we vote. #YesOnProp1 #VoteYesOnProp1 #Prop1BuildsCA #HomesForCalifornians

For the fourth year in a row, Santa Cruz County has been ranked the least affordable rental housing market in the nation. According to the National Low Income Housing Coalition's Out of Reach 2026 report, a full-time worker must earn $81.04 per hour to afford a modest two-bedroom rental home. https://lnkd.in/gGh4ajDJ) See page 34. This is not the number one ranking we want for Santa Cruz County. For most workers in our community, earning $81.04 an hour simply isn't the reality. Too many families, seniors, young adults, educators, healthcare workers, farmworkers, and service workers are struggling to find a home they can afford. At Housing Santa Cruz County, we believe we can change this story, but it will take all of us working together to increase and preserve affordable housing throughout our community. Housing is essential for a strong community. #AffordableHousing #OutOfReach2026 #SantaCruzCounty #HousingSantaCruzCounty
