  • If you like working on hard problems with people who would rather build something that works than be right, there is a home for you at Intramotev. Check out George's post below or visit Intramotev.com/careers to view all of our openings.

Being wrong in a room full of smart people is the best part of my job. A few months after joining Intramotev, I was in a room with seven other engineers trying to figure out how to get our railcars to run full trips on their own for a customer in Michigan. It was a Friday afternoon, and we had been in this room for over three hours, just talking about how to do it. It was a deeply technical discussion, with nuance everywhere. Everybody was questioning assumptions, arguing edge cases, and rewriting plans on the fly. We filled three whiteboards with hastily drawn diagrams and big lists of what could go wrong. Most of my ideas lasted about five minutes. In fact, nearly everything that was said by the whole group was being picked apart as unsafe, overcomplicated, or impossible. It was the kind of radical candor that develops only when a group of brilliant, humble, and relentlessly curious people tackle a complex problem. There's an energy in rooms like those that’s difficult to describe. Where everything else just melts away, and it’s eight people fully locked in on the same problem. It reminded me of why I fell in love with engineering in the first place: the joy of chasing down a hard, important problem with a group of people who care as much as you do. Long story short: we succeeded. The system we designed has moved over 600,000 tons of material across thousands of trips and kept over 60 tons of CO2 out of the atmosphere. I’m grateful to have played a small part in that success, and to be in conversations like that nearly every day at our office. If that sounds like your kind of Friday afternoon, my team is #hiring. If you’re not the right fit, a referral means a lot.

  • Last week, Intramotev had the privilege of touring Military Ocean Terminal Concord (MOTCO) with MOTCO leadership, USTRANSCOM, and Army Rail representatives. It's inspiring to see our military logistics professionals at work and exciting to hear their vision of how new technologies will positively impact our nation's readiness. We believe rail is core to that readiness, and we're proud to help put America back on track.

  • From moving real-world military cargo at Camp Shelby, to being designated Award-Ready on the DevX Autonomy Marketplace, TugVolts are ready to serve. Intramotev's technology supporting autonomy and unmanned systems has completed the Army Applications Laboratory's competitive assessment and is now available for government customers to view and evaluate on DevX Autonomy. Government customers can request access and view our six-minute solution video at the DevX Autonomy website.

  • We appreciated the opportunity to join Bill Stephens and Matt Soule for a conversation about our technology at the Future of Rail Symposium. Rail has always been the most efficient way to move freight over land, but the industry consistently struggles to compete with trucking for short moves. TugVolt technology changes that dynamic. Thanks to the FreightWaves and Trains Magazine teams for hosting a great conversation! Full video in the comments.

  • The Intramotev team had a productive visit to our partners at Rail Cargo Group in Austria. We share a common belief that the future of freight belongs on the rails, and we're excited to bring TugVolt technology to Europe!

  • Last month at Camp Shelby, U.S. Army Soldiers took the controls of a TugVolt, switching real military cargo between spurs without a locomotive as part of a technology assessment during Operation Sentinel Justice. Watch the recap:
