This is a great event for our VOSBs.
The Navy SBIR Transition Program (Navy STP) supports the successful transition of Navy SBIR/STTR-funded technologies into military acquisition programs, commercial markets, or both. Now in its 25th year, the Navy STP serves as a platform for connecting SBIR/STTR-funded technologies with warfighters, government acquisition and technical personnel, prime contractors, system integrators, and other potential partners and collaborators. This DoN SBIR Program initiative takes a holistic approach to assisting participating small businesses in transitioning their innovative technologies that address the specific needs of the U.S. Navy. Through business mentoring, one-on-one coaching, marketing strategy development, marketing material creation, networking events, and promotional activities, the program provides comprehensive support to help small businesses navigate the complex transition process. Funded by the DoN SBIR Program, all small businesses with active Navy-funded Phase II SBIR/STTR awards are eligible to participate in the program during the first or second year of their Phase II development and demonstration work. Navy STP participating small businesses achieve a 68 percent greater likelihood of transitioning their technology than those that do not participate.

Texas Research Institute-Austin, Inc., is on a current Navy SBIR Phase II contract to provide innovative new technology to the warfighter! TRI Austin Austin, TX Title: Nondestructive Inspection System for Detection and Characterization of Corrosion under Coatings Overview: Texas Research Institute (TRI) Austin proposes, in coordination with Iowa State Universitys (ISU) Center for Nondestructive Evaluation (CNDE), and AVID R&D to transition the successfully demonstrated technology capable of performing electromagnetic inspections through thick polymer coatings in an underwater environment to an imaging system. The system will be developed through two rounds of prototypes, built into a sealed package, and tested immersed in salt water at temperatures of interest to prove out the detection capabilities when performing inspections underwater. Lynntech, Inc., in the Spotlight! It’s Sustainment Technologies Week! Lynntech, Inc., is on a current Navy SBIR Phase II contract to provide innovative new technology to the warfighter! Lynntech, Inc. College Station, TX Title: Castle-Nut (C-Nut) Overview: Fluidic systems in aerospace applications require reliable and secure fittings to ensure proper sealing and prevent leaks under high pressure conditions. Commercially available fittings face challenges in achieving accurate torque application, lack vibration resistant features, and do not provide visual, tactile, or auditory indication of proper installation. This leads to system failures from improper torquing, post-assembly inspection limitations, and vibration loosening. Lynntech's proposed solution incorporates a torque-limiting feature that provides clear feedback once the fitting nut reaches proper installation torque and eliminates the risk of over-torquing. Luna Labs USA, LLC, in the Spotlight! It’s Sustainment Technologies Week! Luna Labs USA, LLC, is on a current Navy SBIR Phase II contract to provide innovative new technology to the warfighter! Luna Labs USA Charlottesville, VA Title: Repairable, Erosion Resistance Nanocoatings for Extreme Environments Overview: Air Cushion Vehicles (ACVs) generate substantial airflow over composite components and surfaces. This airflow is prone to saturation with saltwater and sand particulates, resulting in high erosion on the vehicles. An erosion prevention solution that is durable, cost-effective, and requires minimal manpower for installation, maintenance, and repair is needed. Luna Labs developed two polyurethane elastomer coatings that passed testing on UDRIs rain erosion rig. A custom paint stripper was designed to selectively target and remove the polyurethane erosion resistance coating without damaging the underlying composite, enabling the coating to be stripped and recoated as needed for on-site repair. Forge Group, LLC, in the Spotlight! It’s Sustainment Technologies Week! Forge Group, LLC, is on a current Navy SBIR Phase II contract to provide innovative new technology to the warfighter! Forge Group, LLC Herndon, VA Title: Asset Readiness and Monitoring for Operational Resilience (ARMOR) Overview: The Navy collects aircraft maintenance and sensor data from DECKPLATE and HMS and consolidates it within the SDR platform across its fleet, yet the potential of this data remains largely untapped in the realm of predictive maintenance. This data is primarily used for basic monitoring and after-the-fact fault analysis rather than for predictive analytics. Forge proposes the development of ARMOR for the Navy. By leveraging real-time data and analytics, predictive maintenance allows for the early detection of potential equipment failures before they occur. This capability ensures that repairs can be scheduled at optimal times without disrupting critical missions.
