TW: SA. The system is failing survivors— starting with a misunderstanding of trauma. When law enforcement or Title IX officers judge survivors for how and when survivors report sexual assault — as they struggle to describe what happened to them, report and process on their timelines, or even remain in touch with someone who harmed them — the system perpetuates abuse, rather than correcting it. Thrilled to see Reclamo AI featured in amNewYork! 📰 ICYMI Scale Justice (formerly Pro Bono Net)/Justicia Lab has been awarded $5 million through the The Aspen Institute's WIN Challenge to take Reclamo AI from a NY-local chatbot to a nationwide tool that helps workers understand their rights, build their own wage theft claims, and connect with legal help faster. This work started with the immigrant, women, and non-English-speaking workers I met years ago who had nowhere to turn. They're who we build for. Huge thanks to our partners at the New York Legal Assistance Group, especially Mel Gonzalez (also featured in the piece), and to Isabella Gallo for the thoughtful coverage. 🔗 https://lnkd.in/gVsvwisZ #WorkersRights #AccessToJustice #ResponsibleAI

Thanks to pro bono partners like Troutman Pepper Locke LLP, NYLAG is able to support and work with survivors of intimate partner violence year-round. We're deeply grateful for your commitment to safety and justice. #ProBonoPartnership #LegalServices #AccessToJustice

STATEMENT: New York City—home to millions of immigrants—has been an epicenter of violent and cruel immigration enforcement, and tonight ICE escalated by senselessly shooting a man with his child in the backseat. ICE has no place in our streets, in our courts, and in our city. Abolish ICE. #AbolishICE #ICEoutofNY

Every day, New Yorkers face eviction, fast-tracked deportations and efforts to roll back humanitarian protections, debt collection, benefits denials, and family crises without anyone in their corner. For many of them, the outcome depends on whether they can access and afford legal assistance. I've been able to witness the impact the New York Legal Assistance Group has on New Yorkers first hand - as a fellow at NYLAG early in my career and now as a member of the NYLAG Pro Bono Advisory Board. This fall, I'm raising funds for NYLAG's Justice Forward campaign. These funds are critical for NYLAG to continue providing (and expanding) access to free civil legal services to help New Yorkers keep their homes, secure their benefits, protect their families, and assert their rights in a fast-changing and often frightening legal landscape. Please consider donating at the link below - every contribution counts.

I’m excited to be presenting a workshop on Family Preparedness Planning: Medical, Mental Health, and Legal Perspectives on Supporting Immigrant Families Facing Detention or Deportation with Danielle Hunter at Putting Care at the Center 2026. Camden Coalition’s annual conference brings together providers, people with lived experience, caregivers, policymakers, researchers, and more from the complex care field to learn, network, and create a shared agenda to improve care for those with complex health and social needs. With the theme “Sustaining progress, building the future”, I’m excited to share what we’re doing at NYLAG's LegalHealth. Join me and others Oct. 14-16 in Oakland CA: https://lnkd.in/g3tKEB2F

We joined Manhattan Borough President Brad Hoylman-Sigal & community partners to unveil the Immigrant Welcome Center — a place where immigrant New Yorkers can access critical information, resources, and legal services through NYLAG! When we make sure our neighbors have the information and support they need, we empower our whole community 🗽

Manhattan’s doors are open. Today we opened our new Immigrant Welcome Center, a one-stop shop connecting immigrant New Yorkers with legal referrals, social services, City resources and the support they need to thrive. No matter where you come from, you belong in Manhattan.

DHS/ICE is now sending immigrants without attorneys to a black site docket in 26 Federal Plaza, shutting out lawyers, court observers, and The City Reporter. When NYLAG attorney Benjamin Remy tried to accompany an unrepresented immigrant, security guards blocked him — a blatant attack on due process rights. Everyone deserves an open hearing.
