About us
Origin is building the World's First General Purpose Construction Robot that automate interior finishing trades like drywall finishing, painting and more on real job sites. Construction is a $2T+ industry facing labor shortages, rising costs, and stagnant productivity. While manufacturing, logistics, and automotive have embraced automation, construction remains largely manual. Origin is developing the world’s first general-purpose construction robot — an AI-powered robotic system designed to work alongside human crews and operate power tools across multiple trades. Our robots are already deployed on live job sites in New York City in partnership with leading General Contractors and Trade Contractors. We are on a multi-decade mission to build intelligent robotic systems that enable scalable, high-quality, and cost-efficient construction. you are a contractor exploring construction automation, or an engineer passionate about robotics, AI, controls systems, and real-world autonomy — we’d love to connect. Anyone in India who has got their house or office painted knows the drill. The painters usually come in late - the furniture sits under plastic for weeks - a job meant to take 4–5 days is still on after 15. Then the plumber and the electrician come in, and part of the wall has to be redone. Now imagine that across every floor of every building around the world… That is the problem Origin has chosen to take on. Origin is a Physical AI company, and it's already live on construction sites in New York. Their first robot, OG-1, finishes walls at 3× human speed. It’s quite compact - enough to fit through doorways & into narrow corners plus it works with regular power tools - so nobody has to change how the site runs. Wall finishing and painting are just the start. The same robot is being built to take on plumbing and electrical too, just by changing the tool. Most robotics today is built for a single task. Origin is building a platform that learns trade after trade. Deep-tech hardware - engineered in India - solving a problem for builders around the world 👍 Happy to be part of this journey via Unilazer Ventures - alongside Accel & Zacua - who co-led Origin’s $20M round. We’re hiring AI & Robotics Engineers at Origin !!! The image below is SIM vs REAL. Getting these two worlds to agree is one of the many problems our team works on every day. At Origin, we’re building autonomous robots that perform skilled physical work in real construction environments. That means solving problems across the entire robotics stack: Perception. Simulation. Robot learning. Motion planning. Controls. Localization. Sim2Real. Not as isolated research problems.. but as systems that have to work together, reliably, on a real job site. And that’s what makes this exciting. We’re fortunate to be building with an exceptional team of engineers and researchers from Stanford, UCLA, Georgia Tech, IISc, IITs, NITs and more.. people who love hard problems, move fast, and want to see their work leave the lab and operate in the physical world. We’re growing that team. If you’re an AI / Robotics Engineer excited about closing gaps like the one below and ultimately building robots that can understand, plan and work autonomously in messy real-world environments we’d love to have you here. Come build robots that actually work in the real world. Application link in first comment. cc: Yogesh Ghaturle, Ashish Daga #Hiring #Robotics #AI #RobotLearning #ComputerVision #Sim2Real #AutonomousRobots #PhysicalAI #OriginTech

A drywall seam is about as wide as your thumb. Our robot has to spray straight down its center even though the base never parks in exactly the same place twice. AI model? Easy. Motion planning? Easy. Control? Easy. Making perception + planning + control + hardware work together, in real time, on a construction site? That’s the hard part. Our camera runs at 30 Hz. Our controller at 500 Hz. By the time vision tells the arm where to correct, the robot has already moved. And that’s just one loop. At Origin, we’re solving hundreds of problems like this with a team from Stanford, UCLA, Georgia Tech, IITs, NITs, IISc and more .. some of the most talented engineers we’ve had the privilege to build with. We’re hiring across perception, robot learning, AI, controls, and embedded systems. Want to build robots that actually work in the real world? Come build with us. The world needs to build like never before. From low-cost housing for millions to the data centers powering the AI revolution. But the industry is hitting a wall. Construction today is expensive, unsafe, and critically labor-constrained. The bottleneck? 500,000 open construction jobs that simply can’t be filled fast enough. It’s time to catch up. Let’s build! #construction #robotics #physicalai #embodiedai #contech Yogesh Ghaturle Tushar Makkar Ashish Daga
