CVE-2026-0257 in Palo Alto’s GlobalProtect VPN is being actively exploited by ransomware groups to bypass MFA and establish unauthorized access. What’s worse: some attacks are reaching VMware’s virtualization layer to extract credentials straight from virtual disks, avoiding endpoint detection entirely. This impacts portals and gateways in PAN-OS deployments where authentication override cookies are enabled and certificates are reused with HTTPS. fixed patches are available. Meanwhile, disable auth override cookies or generate dedicated certs as stopgaps. Monitor GlobalProtect logs for suspicious cookie-based connections. Key lesson: skipping credential checks via poorly isolated features can become the weakest link. Enterprise defenses need to treat reverse trust, certificate reuse, and cookie handling with zero-trust rigor. #VPN #ThreatIntelligence #ZeroTrust #Cyberattack #VPNFlaw #MFABypass #GlobalProtect #PaloAlto #CVE20260257 https://lnkd.in/dNM2vJ5p

Apple is reinforcing security for legacy hardware. Recent updates deliver backported patches—including WebKit, Wi-Fi, kernel fixes—via Background Security Improvements (BSIs), meaning devices that cannot move to the newest major OS versions can still stay defended. For IT teams, leveraging Jamf tools like Declarative Device Management and Blueprints allows automatic enforcement of these updates and helps ensure fleets meet minimum safe OS versions. Delay or oversight, even on older devices, can leave serious vulnerabilities exposed. What to watch: whether Apple opens BSI support to even older device versions, and how the company balances new OS features with long-term security for aging hardware. #SecurityNews #Apple #BackgroundSecurityUpdates #LegacyDevices #Jamf #Cybersecurity https://lnkd.in/dcRirf6S

Security alert: AOMEI’s trusted update mechanism was hijacked multiple times between April and July 2026, enabling threat group UNC7017 to deploy backdoors via genuine configuration files and legitimate update channels. The PATCH windows were brief—five to ten minutes—but enough to alter down_html.ini and Notifycfg.ini to point users to malicious payloads including CROSSROAD, SHINYROAD, and disguised ADAPTAGENT malware. This incident reveals how traditional safeguards—HTTPS, checksums—fail when config files aren’t properly signed and domain restrictions are lax. Organizations must audit update logs, scheduled tasks tied to Radmin or Nitro, review proxy/firewall telemetry, and isolate updater execution from UI components. Update architectures are becoming the new battleground in supply-chain security. #Cybersecurity #SupplyChainAttack #Backdoor #AOMEI #Malware #UNC7017 https://lnkd.in/dN9aDUjM

OVHcloud user beware: a recent supply chain breach compromised CLI versions v0.11.0 through v0.15.0. Malicious builds, active for about 94 minutes on October 19, delivered secret-stealing malware. If you installed or updated via GitHub releases or install scripts during that window, your credentials could be exposed. Recommended steps: rotate all secrets stored on the device, delete compromised binaries, and install v0.16.0, which comes with immutable releases and signed attestation. Review your CI/CD pipelines, enforce hash verification, and adopt immutability settings in your release workflows to avoid similar threats. #SupplyChain #Malware #OVHcloud #GitHub #CliSecurity #CloudSecurity https://lnkd.in/daXEqSJk

Blackwall’s $100 million Series C round, valuing the startup at $2.2 billion, shows how pressing bot and AI-agent traffic problems have become. Their channel-first strategy—working through hosting, cloud and managed service providers—lets partners control branding, pricing, and client relationships while offering modular tools like DDoS protection, traffic routing, and AI/endpoint bot filters. This isn’t just about blocking attackers anymore—it’s about distinguishing legit traffic in an increasingly agent-driven web. The move could reshape web infrastructure by making traffic filtering a standard hosting feature—something every website expects from its provider. What to watch: will competitors follow suit, or push back by owning the host-conversation themselves? #AI #Security #WebTraffic #BotDefense #Hosting #Cybersecurity #Cloud https://lnkd.in/dkGPe-d5

Serious breach alert: ClickFix attackers have been exploiting a critical DLL sideloading vulnerability in Siemens Software Center (CVE-2026-110936) to install Remote Access Trojans. They used a signed Software Center binary with a crafted “archive.dll” alongside it, plus AI-powered lures and MSI installers to trick victims. Siemens has patched this in version 4.0.9.8. Organizations should immediately update, block the cited IPs/domains such as wizardexpensive[.]com, and hunt for “SiemensSoftwareCenter.exe” running via msiexec from unexpected locations. Why this matters: Using trusted, signed applications for attack delivery makes defense much harder. With advances in AI tools aiding social engineering, the attack surface is growing just when defenders need stronger hygiene and detection capabilities. #SecurityNews #SIEMENS #ClickFix #DLLSideloading #RAT #Cybersecurity #IoCs https://lnkd.in/dvWpjDCF

Cybersecurity professionals should note: a new phishing campaign uses lookalike Google Meet domains to harvest passwords and 2FA codes. The domains meet-google[.]cyou and qooglo[.]com are confirmed impostors that mimic Meet’s branding and request credentials via pages that appear legitimate. Adding risk, an exposed "/install" route on one site discloses the database configuration—including a prefilled password—revealing backend misconfiguration that could compound harm. Paths like /api/demo/sessions and /assets/js/demo.js are flagged as indicators. What to watch: use direct links (e.g. meet.google.com), insist on security keys or prompts over codes, restrict access to install/setup endpoints, and monitor credential leaks in logs. The implications reach beyond one campaign—it’s a reminder that phishing blends UI mimicry and infrastructural errors, so defenses must cover both. #Security #Phishing #2FA #GoogleMeet #Cybersecurity #ThreatIntel https://lnkd.in/draVKtjK

A former OpenAI engineer has been detained over allegations of installing a hidden audio recorder in an executive conference room, in what prosecutors say was part of a broader espionage scheme involving Saudi royal contacts. According to court filings, the engineer built the device to capture sensitive conversations, encrypted recordings, and used internal tools to monitor executive meeting locations—all while communicating frequently with a Saudi royal who sought to recruit him for AI initiatives in Saudi Arabia. This situation highlights how insider threats have evolved in the AI age, combining technical know-how with geopolitical ambitions. Companies and governments must reassess physical security protocols, vetting processes, and cross-border risk assessments. #OpenAI #Cybersecurity #Espionage #AI #Saudi #InsiderThreat https://lnkd.in/dJJRGqxG

NYC is confronting AI head-on. Mayor Zohran Mamdani says federal regulation has failed, leaving cities and residents vulnerable to the unchecked adoption of powerful technology. With decisions pushed to states and schools—banning AI in classrooms, mandating disclosure in real estate—he’s making local governments the frontline for accountability. This shift matters because AI’s impact cuts across privacy, safety, education, and economic fairness. When national authorities demur, communities are forced to set the boundaries. The next few years will test whether localized regulation can fill the federal gap, and whether civic pressure can force broader systemic change. #AIRegulation #LocalGov #NYC #AIAccountability #EducationTech #TechPolicy https://lnkd.in/dKyErc-d

Flipkart’s new food-delivery strategy could reshape India’s delivery market. The company is testing “Eat-in by Minutes” in Bengaluru, expanding rapidly within its Ekart logistics arm and quick-commerce setup. Restaurants are being offered much lower fees (10-16%) versus incumbents, with customers saving modestly per order. Launching publicly by end-October in 5-6 cities seems certain, depending on operational execution. What matters now is whether Flipkart can deliver speed, scale and competitive pricing to challenge Swiggy and Zomato who’ve held the space for years. #FoodDelivery #India #Flipkart #Ekart #Ecommerce #Swiggy #Zomato #QuickCommerce https://lnkd.in/d5cWfcxs
