Shining our staff spotlight on Rebecca, our technology manager! 💾 "Most of my work happens behind the scenes, behind a screen, and often behind a tangle of cables," says Rebecca, who ensures that the entire team have the tools and tech support to do their best work. "Supporting the people who are out there every day serving our community is incredibly meaningful." In her two years at United Way, Rebecca has had the opportunity to grow, particularly as a leader. "United Way has helped me discover that I can be a leader in many different ways. I’ve learned to be a better advocate for myself, for my community, and for the things I believe in." Thank you, Rebecca, we're lucky to have you on the team!

About us
With deep local roots in Southern Maine, United Way sees how our community’s greatest challenges like food insecurity, housing instability, and lack of access to child care and health services are connected, and how we can bring people and resources together to address them. Through community investments, public policy, programming, and volunteer work, we quickly respond to urgent needs and create collaborative long-term solutions that help ALICE households rise and advance our community’s shared vision.

Proud to support the United Way of Southern Maine. This is the 2nd year we have collected for the Tools for Schools campaign. BBI Maine and the BBI US Commercial team definitely delivered this year!
Together, we can send students back to school ready to learn and succeed! BBI Solutions partnered with United Way to generously donate backpacks and school supplies to the Foundation for Portland Public Schools and help more students start the school year right. Thank you, BBI Solutions, for giving back, and thank you to our local schools for giving youth a strong start.

"Every day, thousands of Mainers face the hardest choices: buy food or pay for a prescription; drive far for healthcare or risk going without; toil to afford childcare or stop working; go to a homeless shelter or sleep in a tent." Portland Press Herald's Stretched Thin series, reported by Gillian Graham, looks at the financial hardships Mainers face today. This reporting affirms what United Way staff learned from surveys and conversations with 3,159 Southern Maine residents. Across communities, backgrounds, and experiences, stability feels increasingly out of reach. Read the article: https://lnkd.in/g4U3vxy3

Who do I spy but the incredibly talented Cameron Peden and Melissa Hue, two leaders (the first a colleague and the second a board member) connected to United Way of Southern Maine who are helping strengthen a stronger Southern Maine through their tireless work for everyone who is lucky to call Southern Maine home but might still be struggling to make ends meet. Grateful they have chosen to work with us and the rest of the incredible team of staff and volunteers here. #unitedistheway https://lnkd.in/gMgTFaWC
