Since 1973, over 300 rescue professionals and volunteers with Westpac Lifesaver Rescue Helicopter Service have performed over 100,000 missions across Australia. In October each year, we celebrate Rescue Helicopter Month, turning our eyes to the skies to say thank you to all the crew, pilots, volunteers, doctors and support teams who make our communities safer every day. It costs upwards of $5,000 for every hour that a Westpac rescue helicopter flies. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will help with funding for critical resources, equipment and training. Keeping Australia safe, from the bush to the beach.

Creating change can start with something as simple as making a sandwich 🥪 Westpac employees joined Eat Up Australia founder and Westpac Scholar, Lyndon Galea, at our Kent Street office for a volunteering session as part of our Doubling Down on Education campaign. Together, teams prepared sandwiches that will be delivered to students experiencing food insecurity across Australia. When children arrive at school fed, they're better able to focus on learning, build confidence and reach their potential. At Westpac, we're committed to helping more young Australians unlock their potential through education. That's why we're giving our people practical ways to get involved and help remove barriers to learning for young Australians in their local communities. #DoublingDownOnEducation #Education

It’s International Literacy Day, and what better day to announce the inaugural recipients of Westpac Foundation’s* Education Grants. Recent NAPLAN results show too many Australian children are still not meeting expected benchmarks in reading and maths and the challenges can be even greater for kids in remote and regional areas. That's why Westpac Foundation is awarding $1.2 million over two years to 10 organisations helping improve education outcomes for children across Australia. From literacy and numeracy programs to initiatives addressing systemic barriers to educational opportunity, these organisations are helping more children build the foundations they need to learn, participate and succeed. One of this year's recipients is Story Factory, which will partner with Shalvey Public School in Western Sydney to deliver creative writing programs that strengthen literacy, confidence and engagement in learning. Watch the video below to see how Story Factory is helping children find their voice through storytelling and build the skills and confidence to thrive at school and beyond. Did you know 1 in 3 Aussie kids aren't meeting literacy and numeracy benchmarks? Potential exists everywhere. But for too many kids the chance to build essential skills doesn't. Alongside our Foundations, we're doubling down on education, helping create more opportunities for young people to learn, grow and make a positive impact. From primary school kids to postgrads, and leaders of tomorrow.

The latest NAPLAN results tell a familiar story. A child's educational opportunities are still too often influenced by their postcode. While many students are achieving strong outcomes, the gap between those with the most support and those facing the greatest barriers remains persistent. That's why Westpac invests in programs and partnerships that help create more opportunities through education. We know that potential exists everywhere, and access to quality education can open doors, build confidence and create opportunities that last a lifetime. Addressing education outcomes is a complex challenge, and one that requires organisations to work together. Through our partnership with Australian Schools Plus, we're supporting schools and communities to help more young Australians reach their potential, regardless of their postcode. Schools Plus CEO, Sherrill Nixon, has shared her thoughtful perspective on the latest NAPLAN results and the work still ahead: https://lnkd.in/gP8DjWMR #Education #Literacy #Numeracy #Westpac #WestpacFoundation

For Westpac Future Leader, Harry Robertson, improving transplant medicine isn't just a research challenge. It's personal. Growing up, he watched his father work as a transplant coordinator, making life-changing calls to people receiving an organ transplant. Those experiences shaped Harry's understanding of both the promise and the complexity of transplantation. Today, is using AI and data science to help clinicians detect organ rejection faster, with the potential to improve outcomes for patients and support better clinical decision-making. 👉 Read Harry's story in One Thousand, our digital magazine celebrating 1,000 Westpac Scholars and the impact they're creating across Australia: https://lnkd.in/gb9_EbDd 👉 Ready to take your impact further?
