The fact there isn't a blanket ban on all fossil fuel advertising beggars belief, but advertising to our kids in a science centre 🤯! Science centres should be unbiased beacons of inspiration for our kids. Allowing Equinor to use an educational space for marketing compromises the centre’s scientific credibility and educational integrity. Moreover, the mixed messages this sends our kids is irresponsible and dangerous - particularly given that Equinor recently slashed its investment in renewables and shifted its primary focus back to fossil fuel production. If Equinor wants to support the next generation, it should immediately Stop Rosebank and switch its focus to transitioning to renewable energy - FAST. The brilliant @EllenOrmesher included some of the thoughts I shared with her in the below @Desmog article. https://lnkd.in/einscUxd #ClimateCrisis #BanFossilFuelAdvertsing #StopRosebank
So now you want kids to be banned from seeing and hearing what fossil fuels are, how they came about, their history, how they enabled civilisation to thrive! OMG 🤷
OMG this is just shocking. Equinor is the worst, hiding behind a rebrand when it's still just an oil company. Greenwashing left, right and centre. Law suits following them - just last year it was hit with a 60 million penalty because of poor maintenance that almost certainly caused illegal gas emissions and oil spills. This is just one example. Science marvels and teaches. Equinor is only teaching kids what not to do!
This is just straightforward propaganda. It’s OUTRAGEOUS!
Gross!!
Shocking and disgraceful.
We support a total ban on fossil fuel advertising and sponsorship!
Grateful for the focus Ellen Ormesher and DeSmog
Agree wholeheartedly, it shouldnt be allowed. Here in Norway 12 out of 13 (!) science centres for kids are collaborating with Equinor. Like the science center VilVite Bergen Vitensenter who next weekend is arranging fun Lego-activities «sponsored by Equinor». We have gathered more info (in English) about Equinor’s influence on local communities in this report: https://www.klimakultur.no/nyheter/help-how-to-resist-something-that-everyone-loves/
