Those who have served understand what it means to work toward something larger than themselves. That commitment does not disappear. If you are a veteran who built part of your career at BAE Systems, the mission that shaped your work then continues to drive it now. Now there’s a clear path back: self-refer for eligible positions and earn a potential hiring bonus if hired. The mission hasn't changed. Neither has the door. A military transition timeline shouldn’t dictate when someone starts building their civilian network. The earlier those conversations happen, the more time service members have to explore career paths, understand employer expectations, and prepare. Please share the upcoming ClearanceJobs San Antonio Career Event with the transitioning service members you support, especially those interested in careers requiring a security clearance. Whether they’re actively applying or still early in planning, this event offers an opportunity to meet employers face-to-face, discuss how their military experience translates into civilian roles, and ask which skills and credentials would strengthen their candidacy. They don’t need to be ready to accept a job to start making connections. “I’m transitioning next year and exploring my options” is a great introduction. Thursday, November 5, 2026 4–7 p.m. Central Time InterContinental San Antonio Riverwalk Address: 111 E. Pecan St., San Antonio, TX 78205 Participating organizations: Amentum, Core4ce, Securitas Critical Infrastructure Services, Inc., and the United States Space Force

One of the points I've learned since I started at BAE Systems is as a Software Engineer, is the ability to communicate progress and equip stakeholders with the right tools to track and understand this progress which is often overlooked, despite being vital to workplace success.

A stronger veteran talent pipeline starts before the job search. SkillBridge’s fall provider application window is open through December 1, 2026. For interested employers, this is an opportunity to explore structured training that connects military experience with civilian workforce needs. Start with the work your roles require. Review the official provider requirements. Build a pathway to capability. #GreySteelTalent #SkillBridge #VeteranTalent

Almost two decades in field artillery. Then retired and had to figure out what came next. Every veteran knows this feeling. The job boards are full of listings, but nobody tells you what the work actually takes. Who succeeds. Who washes out. What the first year really costs you. We checked this week. When a veteran searches for a career as an insurance agent, the top results are job postings. Not one honest guide. Just listings competing for the click. That is why Oihana Consulting works the way it does. The career-fit assessment asks hard questions up front, including whether you are legally authorized to work here and whether you can commit ten hours a week. Some people get told no. That is the point. Kirk built it that way because he lived the transition. Veterans do not need another sales pitch dressed up as guidance. They need someone who has done it and will tell the truth about it. If you wore the uniform and you are thinking about this work, start with the assessment. It will tell you straight.

BEYOND THE UNIFORM — PART 1 When the Mission Ends, Who Am I? Throughout my career, and even within the past week, I've spoken with transitioning service members and veterans who are getting out or have been out of the military for a year or two. One common theme keeps coming up: the struggle to find a new sense of purpose. The military provides a clearly defined mission, a strong sense of belonging, and pride in serving something bigger than yourself. Few civilian careers offer that same sense of purpose. And while careers in law enforcement, EMS, or firefighting may offer something similar, many veterans want to leave high-stress environments behind while still making a difference. They just want to find a new way to do it. This four-part series, Beyond the Uniform, explores the conversations we aren't having enough about military transition and how it ties to a veteran's career development and change. We spend a tremendous amount of time preparing service members to leave the military. We teach resume writing, interviewing, networking, and how to translate military experience into civilian language. All important, but we don't spend nearly enough time discussing one question. What happens when the mission that has defined your life is no longer your mission? For years, you knew where you belonged. You had responsibilities, expectations, a team, and a purpose. You knew what getting up in the morning meant. Then one day, the uniform comes off. No formation. No rank. No clearly defined next assignment. And suddenly, you may find yourself asking: Who am I without the military? Finding a civilian job is not necessarily the same as finding a new sense of purpose. Purpose may come from a career, mentoring others, volunteering, family, faith, education, or discovering something entirely new. But it doesn't always happen overnight. Military transition is not simply a career change. For many, it is also an identity change. To our veterans: What helped you rediscover your sense of purpose after leaving military service? Helping people succeed financially is a noble profession. So is serving your country. In this clip, a Wells Fargo leader explains why veterans thrive in financial services: the same sense of purpose that sends someone into the military is what makes them good at helping a client plan for retirement, buy a first home, or rebuild after a setback. Wells Fargo has built real programs around that idea — a dedicated military talent team, a Corporate Fellowship Program, and Operation Stagecoach among them. It's part of why they're a Hiring America partner. If you're a veteran or military spouse weighing a career in financial services, this is worth three minutes. #VeteranJobs #MilitaryTransition #HiringAmerica #FinancialReadiness
