🙌🏼 We're delighted to announce €3.92m in funding under the first dedicated 'Shared Island, Shared Stories' round of our Sound & Vision scheme. This was delivered through the Shared Island Media Fund, a €14 million programme being implemented by us over three years, with support from the Government's Shared Island initiative. 27 all-island media projects will be supported (14 television and 13 radio), involving independent producers and broadcasters from across the island. Congrats to all recipients!

Independent media is broken when it stays fragmented.

Audiences no longer consume journalism, television, and audio through a single traditional channel.

The model demands a cohesive digital footprint where community reporting naturally feeds into visual and audio production.

We built our media network across three dedicated pillars:

• Investigative journalism and local reporting: TheSouthSideSignal.com

• Original television, film, and streaming programming: AbsolutelyAmazingTV.com

• Curated radio broadcasts, music, and DJ culture: DinnerviewsRadio.com

When you control the full spectrum of production—from the written word to broadcast—you own the narrative entirely.

How is your organization adapting its content distribution across different mediums?

According to Good Hope FM programme manager Gerard Muller, the radio station's annual Presenter Search is designed to do more than find a single winner. It serves as a long-term pipeline for discovering and developing broadcasting talent from Cape Town communities. The latest line-up changes sees winner Sasha Japtha host Big Scorp Stinger Sessions every Sunday from 4am to 6am, while fellow finalists have been placed in news, outside broadcasts and production roles. #themediabeat

Launching live productions often hits a snag: an 80-millisecond delay can disrupt the flow. This technical hurdle can make real-time broadcasting feel sluggish and unresponsive.

However, the solution has been found in uncompressed recording. This method preserves the integrity of the audio and video signals, eliminating the processing delays that plague other formats. It ensures a seamless, high-quality live experience for viewers.

This breakthrough opens up new possibilities for dynamic and engaging live content. #LiveProduction #BroadcastTechnology #VideoQuality #AudioVisual #ProductionTips
