🌐 As online information threats evolve, so must the response. Ofcom’s Online Information Advisory Committee (OIAC) has published its first statutory report, alongside new research into information-based threats to elections. The Committee highlights the need for stronger cooperation between government, online services, law enforcement and regulators, as well as a stronger evidence base as technologies such as generative AI reshape the information environment. The advice note looks beyond individual pieces of content to how threats can operate across the wider ecosystem, including through microtargeting and inauthentic advertising. For advertising and media, that wider lens matters. Information integrity is also shaped by the systems and commercial decisions that determine what reaches people, how it reaches them and what gets amplified. Building healthier information environments requires transparency and accountability across the systems that shape what people see online. 🔗 Read the OIAC report: https://lnkd.in/eYzHrEgD 🔗 Read the advice note on information-based threats to elections: https://lnkd.in/eMA-Rucm #InformationIntegrity #OnlineSafety #OnlineHarms #TogetherWeCAN
