Another fun chart for my fellow cross-border fund nerds that shows the rise and rise of UCITS ETFs. Since 2020, assets in UCITS ETFs have grown by 170% to €2.6 trillion at the end of 2025. This growth has been driven by Irish domiciled ETFs, which have accounted for an eye-catching 78% of the total growth of UCITS ETFs this decade. As a result, Ireland now has 73% of the UCITS ETF market – up from 66% in 2020.

The Irish Funds team will be in London next week for the International Bar Association 24th Annual Conference on Private Investment Funds. 🌍 This flagship gathering brings together global leaders to explore the innovations, regulatory shifts and investment frontiers shaping the future of private markets. As private capital continues to scale and evolve, Ireland’s role in the global private assets ecosystem has never been more relevant. Ireland is one of the world’s leading fund domiciles, with more than 30 years at the forefront of global funds. Irish-domiciled funds hold $6.5 trillion in net assets and represent 22% of all European fund assets - a position earned through stability, expertise and trusted regulation. That same foundation - supported by over 20,000 fund professionals across a deep and experienced ecosystem - is now powering Ireland’s next phase of growth in private assets. 🚀 Why Ireland for private assets? 🏗️ Modern private asset structures for private equity, private credit and real assets ⚖️Speed to market and regulatory certainty, supported by recent tax, regulatory and legislative enhancements 🌐A globally connected platform providing access to international investors from one location 🤝Industry capacity and service excellence from experienced, client-centric, solutions-driven professionals 🏛️Built for long-term capital — delivering stability, substance and scale If you’re attending the conference, Jennifer Reilly, Pat Lardner and Conor Kilroy would be delighted to connect to discuss how Ireland supports the growth of private markets globally. #IrishFunds #PrivateAssets #PrivateMarkets #IBA #InvestmentFunds #Ireland

Another great chart for my fellow cross-border fund nerds. Last year, Ireland domiciled UCITS sales outpaced Luxembourg by an eye-opening 65%, which is almost completely down to the disparity in equity fund sales. The reason for this is Ireland’s position as the leading European ETF domicile - 75% of UCITS ETFs assets are in Irish funds. According to the EFAMA data, all net inflows into UCITS equity funds last year were in to ETFs, with traditional equity funds seeing net outflows. With the ETF revolution in its relative infancy in Europe (ETFs still only make up about 12% of the total UCITS fund market, compared to the US fund market where the number is closer to 30%) it’s likely the gap in UCITS sales between Ireland and Luxembourg will only grow.
