A significant milestone for Quantinuum in Australia this week! We formally signed an MOU with The University of Western Australia to deepen our collaboration across quantum research, applications, talent development and broader ecosystem building in Western Australia. The MOU was signed by Professor Amit Chakma, Vice-Chancellor and President of UWA, and me. I was also very pleased to welcome Yaz Mubarakai MLA, representing the WA Government’s science and innovation portfolio, and grateful to Professor Anna Nowak, Deputy Vice-Chancellor (Research), UWA, and Linda Dawson, Head of the Office of Defence Industries, WA Government, for joining us for the occasion. Through this collaboration, we want to give UWA researchers, students and the wider innovation community greater access to Quantinuum’s technology and global ecosystem, including cloud access to Helios, our Nexus software platform, Q-NET community and Startup Partner Programme. A particularly important part of the partnership is the ambition to develop a university-wide applications capability at UWA. The focus is on building the skills and use cases needed to explore where quantum, alongside AI and HPC, can address real challenges across areas such as critical minerals, energy, agriculture and healthcare. For me, this is also about building the demand side of the ecosystem. Access to technology matters, but so does developing researchers, users and industry applications that can translate that capability into real value over time. A big thank you to Professor Jingbo Wang and the broader UWA leadership team for the work that has brought us to this point, and to Quantum Australia for its strong support and partnership - John Barrington AM, Peter Rossdeutscher AM, Dr Andrzej Gwizdalski and Daniela (Danka) Hundzova. This is an important step in our broader engagement across Australia, and I’m looking forward to what we can build together from here! #Quantinuum #UWA #QuantumComputing #QuantumAustralia #WesternAustralia
