We're proud to see MWI Executive Director Chuck Doran featured in a new Forbes Business Council article on how leaders can handle team disagreements without losing trust. Chuck shares a perspective central to our work at MWI: Conflict isn't necessarily bad. When approached constructively, it can create opportunities to learn, grow, and strengthen relationships. As Chuck points out, leaders can set the example by focusing on the problem rather than the person and showing that we can disagree without being disagreeable. Why do some leaders multiply other leaders, while others just hand out assignments and call it management? The marketplace version chases productivity, profit, and personal advancement. The servant leadership version invests in people until they take real ownership of the mission themselves. Three things worth sitting with this week: Profit is the byproduct of serving well, not the goal you chase directly. Leaders who build ownership in others multiply their impact far beyond what they could do alone. Self-sacrifice, done right, produces growth rather than depletion. Which one describes your leadership this month: directing employees, or multiplying leaders? 🤔 Credit: CBMC Monday Manna. During times of change, what do people really need from their leaders? When organisations face significant change, the focus often shifts to what must be achieved, what must change, and what employees must do. But in doing so, leaders can lose sight of something far more important: what their people need from them. At Legitimate Leadership, we believe that trust is fundamental to people's willingness to be led, particularly during periods of uncertainty. And that trust depends on whether people believe those in authority genuinely have their best interests at heart. Today, Ian Munro, Sean Hagger, Mike Sealy, and Nigel Dawe will explore this question at the Talent and Leadership Club event in the UK, organised by Ben Chambers. We're looking forward to some good conversations about leadership, trust and what it really means to lead people through change. We'll share insights from the session over the coming days. #LegitimateLeadership #Leadership #OrganisationalChange #FromTakingToGiving

Forums provide an invaluable space for leaders to build deep relationships, speak openly about their challenges, and gain insights and perspectives they might not find elsewhere. Delcie’s reflections capture what makes that experience so meaningful and how its impact extends beyond the meetings. The in-person retreat deepens those relationships and gives members time to work through challenges with greater intention and reflection. As a facilitator, I find that supporting members’ learning and growth deepens my own.
One of the things I’ve always valued about Forum is that the impact extends far beyond the time spent in the room. Delcie Bean captures that beautifully in this article. He speaks on the impact Forum can have, not just on us as leaders, but on the people and organizations around us. I particularly liked his perspective on Key Associates Forum and the opportunity to extend that experience to the next generation of leaders within our teams. Forum is ultimately about trust, vulnerability, accountability, and growth. Delcie captures that beautifully. Worth a read: https://lnkd.in/gRJhYG3p #YPO #Forum #Leadership #KeyAssociates

BUILDING CAPACITY FOR EFFECTIVE LEADERSHIP Leadership is not waiting for someone to call you a leader. Sometimes, we think leadership begins when we get the position, the title, the office, or the opportunity to stand in front of people. But what if leadership actually starts before anyone notices you? It starts with how you lead yourself. How you handle the small responsibilities given to you. How you treat people when you have nothing to gain from them. How willing you are to learn. How consistently you show up. And whether your actions add value to the people and spaces around you. During the SHE-SHINES LEADERSHIP CONFERENCE 2026, the session on “Building Capacity for Effective Leadership” challenged us to look beyond titles and focus on what truly makes leadership effective. One of the many powerful lessons that stood out was this: “The opportunity in your hands today may be your training ground for the responsibility you are praying for tomorrow.” So, before asking, “When will I become a leader?” Ask yourself: “Am I building the capacity to lead?” Because leadership doesn't begin when the position arrives. It begins with who you are becoming now. #SheShinesInitiative #SheShinesLeadershipConference #ArchitectsOfExcellence #BuildingCapacity #EffectiveLeadership #LeadershipDevelopment #CharacterAndCompetence #Leadership #CapacityBuilding

The goal of leadership is not to become indispensable. When every decision, question, or challenge requires the leader’s involvement, dependency grows and organizational capability stalls. Strong leadership creates the conditions for others to exercise judgment, take ownership, and move forward with confidence. The goal isn’t to be needed. It’s to build capability. #LeadershipDevelopment #ExecutiveLeadership #OrganizationalLeadership #Leadership #FONSLLC
