Most projects look straightforward on paper. But most aren’t. Progress depends on understanding what sits below ground, and acting on that insight with clarity and confidence. Too often, investigation, drilling, testing and risk mitigation are treated as separate activities. That creates gaps. And gaps create risk. At Igne, we bring them together into one integrated model - so decisions are based on connected insight, not fragmented data. Because when everything connects, progress becomes possible. In a new article for Offshore magazine, our Senior Petroleum Engineer, Susan Moloney, discusses why operators should consider P&A requirements well before cessation of production – using opportunities during drilling, surveillance and intervention campaigns to address data gaps while they still can. The article explores how early, integrated planning between subsurface and wells teams can support better-informed barrier placement, reduce remediation requirements and help optimise P&A programmes. It also draws on Elemental Energies’ experience supporting complex North Sea P&A and decommissioning projects, including how field-level risk assessment can help inform abandonment strategy. Brazil’s auction results are out. What still stands between the winning bids and signed contracts? The next steps—and the timetable—deserve a closer look. ↓
Brazil held two licensing auctions on 7 October: • Sixth concession cycle: 49 exploration blocks and three marginal accumulation areas received winning bids. • Fourth production-sharing cycle: seven of 13 blocks received winning bids. The next milestone is contract execution. ANP says the winners must complete the remaining documentation and signature bonus payment steps before contracts are signed. Signature is targeted by 26 February 2027. That leaves a period worth following between the auction headline and the executed contract. Acreage tracks those stages alongside upcoming rounds and scheduled award decisions: what has been confirmed, what happens next and which dates the regulator has published. For teams screening acreage or planning subsurface work, the result is one part of the picture. The outstanding steps matter too. Both Brazil entries are now updated, checked against ANP’s publications. Explore the free brief and a sample of the deeper research: https://acreagebrief.com/
