The question isn't whether your firm uses technology. The question is whether your firm is protected if something goes wrong. As technology continues to evolve, so do the risks facing law firms. In this video, Chris shares a simple way to think about cyber exposure and explains why standalone cyber coverage is becoming an increasingly important part of protecting a modern law practice. I’m looking forward to speaking at the upcoming Houston Bar Association CLE: When Law Firms Become Targets: Lessons from the Data Breach Trenches, with my colleague Alyssa S.. As I am sure many have noticed, there has been a significant uptick in cyber attacks against law firms. Sadly, Alyssa and I (as well as the rest of the NRF cyber response team) have had way too much experiencing assisting our law firm clients in responding to these events. This session is meant to provide practical tips drawn from these real-world experiences that law firm GCs and CISOs can implement now to minimize the cost and impact of these cyber events later. A great recap from Andrew Gibb (Vice President - Chubb) on his Cyber Risks panel discussion alongside Garrett Fulton (CNA), moderated by Chester D. White, RPLU ARM.
Earlier this week I had the opportunity to take part in a panel discussion about Cyber Risks for Law Firms at the annual PilotLegis RPG conference in Scottsdale. We spoke about the risks unique to Law Firms, the current threat landscape and how Vishing/Help Desk Impersonation are driving some huge losses in the space, as well as concrete steps that firms can use to protect themselves from these threats. It was an interactive discussion with several great questions from the audience during and after the panel. Thanks to Aon and PilotLegis for hosting this event and recognizing the importance of educating their members on Cyber risks for small to medium sized Law Firms

On Friday, October 2, join the American Bar Association for a webinar I'm moderating with panelists Matthew F. Ferraro and Logan Hamilton. "Seeing Isn't Believing: A Lawyer's Guide to #Cybercrime and #Deepfakes in 2026" draws from the latest edition of the ABA #Cybersecurity Handbook. This webinar will demystify the full spectrum of modern cybercrime, including malware, social engineering, business email compromise, and the rapidly evolving world of synthetic media, breaking it all down in plain language with no technical background required. Whether you're litigating cases involving digital evidence, advising clients who've fallen victim to a data breach or phishing attack, or working to protect your own firm from being the next target, this session will arm you with the foundational knowledge and practical strategies every lawyer needs to navigate the intersection of cybersecurity, AI-manipulated media, and the law in 2026.
