Shafiqa* had just completed Grade 6 when secondary education and beyond was banned for girls in Afghanistan. The following year, she repeated the grade voluntarily – simply to stay in a classroom. “If I were allowed to return, I would get ready with excitement,” she says. She’s not alone. Find out how girls like Rabia*, 14, and Mahira*, 18, continue to dream of their futures despite the ongoing ban. *Names changed for security https://lnkd.in/eENyxGRR

Shafiqa repeating a grade voluntarily, simply to stay in a classroom, is a heartbreaking testament to how deeply girls value learning when it is taken from them. Keeping these stories in the spotlight matters. Thank you for sharing this.

Thank you for sharing this sad yet inspiring story, how can we overcome this challenge as a leading network of people if we understand the issues we must push for equality right at the heart and source, so our help can be productive and life changing for everyone who deserves this basic human right 🙏🏼🧡

UNICEF To voluntarily repeat a grade just to feel the warmth of a classroom is a heartbreaking testament to how deeply valued education is. Shafiqa’s resilience is incredibly humbling, but she and millions of other girls shouldn't have to fight this hard just to learn. Thank you for sharing these stories and keeping a global spotlight on their courage. We cannot afford to look away from their futures.

Perhaps, these children can be exposed to practical life skills that foster creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship, so that if repeating a class is the only option, they can have a worthwhile experience rather than just repeating the same curriculum.

And women rights organisations are sleeping, they just want to keep their accounts open for the donors .At least they can agitate in their own countries & can remind their countries not to do any business/links with the ruling regime there!
