As Sarah Kline, Co-Founder of United for Global Mental Health, prepares to step down, she reflects on what it means to advocate from lived experience, the courage it takes to speak out, and why people with lived experience must have a seat at the decision-making table. In this personal reflection, Sarah looks back at the progress made alongside advocates, partners and funders around the world, while reminding us that much more remains to be done to ensure everyone, everywhere, receives mental health care rooted in dignity and respect. 👉 Read Sarah's reflection on why lived experience advocacy matters: https://lnkd.in/di9yBXPS
Thank you for your leadership Sarah Kline. In the relatively short time that A&O Shearman has been collaborating with you and UnitedGMH, it is clear the huge difference you are making around the world.
Sarah Kline, it has been a pleasure to work with you over these years. You have done so much for the field, and with admirable humility. Thank you for your courage, and your example.
Sarah's reflection on what it takes to advocate from lived experience, and to keep showing up for it over the years, really resonates. At Talking-Buddy we built our Structured Human Presence Model around a similar belief, that being genuinely heard, even outside a clinical setting, is its own form of care and deserves real standing, not just a mention. Thank you for the years of work making that case.
Sarah Kline’s leadership, bravery and wisdom have been integral to building United for Global Mental Health into the amazing organisation it has become. Lived experience isn’t something we’ve asked for but it is essential that these voices continue to be heard. Thanks for all you’ve done, and for the team and community you’ve helped build.
