Escalating observability costs and search bottlenecks shouldn’t be the price of scaling Splunk. In part one of a five-part series, VAST Data's Bryan Schramm introduces Infinite Cache for Splunk SmartStore: A unified Block and S3 architecture that reduces storage requirements by at least 70%, increases search performance, and eliminates the partial search results common in high-availability deployments. Watch Episode 1 to see how it operates across bare-metal, virtualized, and Kubernetes environments 🎬

Today more than ever, visibility plays a crucial role in the impact of our data flows and, by extension, our applications. And what better way to achieve this than by combining the power of Nexus One architecture telemetry—driven by Nexus Dashboard—with the versatility of Splunk? In this blog post, we analyze the new features of Cisco Nexus One + Splunk. https://lnkd.in/g5VtetDe

What happens when two teams need the same IP range on one Kubernetes cluster? As platforms bring VMs and containers together on OpenShift, teams need ways to support tenant isolation and overlapping IP ranges. Isovalent Private Networks bring a VPC-style model to Kubernetes, so tenants can use overlapping CIDRs, keep workloads isolated, and connect VMs and Pods within their own network. 🔐☸️ Explore the hands-on walkthrough of isolated networks, micro-segmentation, and Hubble visibility. 🛠️📊 Read the blog: https://lnkd.in/eqnDq8Sj

⚡ Analytical SPL queries ran up to 50× faster ⚡ Queries ran roughly 9× faster overall 🤏 More than 80% smaller on-disk footprint than Splunk 🔁 Existing SPL queries and dashboards ran unmodified ⚙️ Full-fidelity data retained without filtering or sampling 💪 Matched Splunk’s daily ingest volume with no drop in performance New Imply Lumi customer story here:
New customer story, out now: https://bit.ly/46yl4FJ A global asset manager deployed Imply Lumi to retain and search its growing security data more efficiently without replacing Splunk or changing how its teams work. Analytical queries ran up to 50× faster than Splunk, while performance across the full query set improved by roughly 9× overall. Lumi also reduced the company’s on-disk storage footprint by more than 80% while retaining full-fidelity data with no changes to existing SPL queries and dashboards. Lumi now runs within the company’s AWS environment, supporting a deployment designed to scale to multiple terabytes per day.

When your workload outgrows a standard instance, don't change your architecture, change your size. Extra Large instances extend the B3, C3 and R3 families up to 1TB of memory or 160 vCores on a single node, so memory-heavy databases, virtualization hosts and analytics platforms scale vertically without a redesign. 🎙️ Chris "Gonzo" Gondek — Solutions Engineering Manager, NetApp 🎙️ Adam Thurtell — Partner Technical Lead, NetApp 🎙️ Stuart Anderson — NetApp Technical BDM, Dicker Data One of the sharpest takeaways from this @Sydney VMUG session: in Kubernetes environments, abstracting the storage backend through CSI and Trident is a game-changer for platform teams. Rather than requiring every application team to understand the nuances of the underlying array, you let the Container Storage Interface and NetApp Trident handle that complexity. The result? Storage flexibility at scale, without creating a knowledge bottleneck across your organisation. This clip is part of a broader session covering Data Infrastructure Insights, ONTAP Tools for VMware, Trident, and the Shift Toolkit — all focused on unlocking value that many organisations already have sitting inside their VCF deployments but haven't fully realised yet. A fantastic contribution to the VMUG Sydney community, and exactly the kind of practical, vendor-led insight that makes these sessions worthwhile. From VMware to Proxmox - A Smarter Infrastructure Journey TechData Enterprise Ltd recently helped a customer modernize its virtualization environment by migrating from VMware to Proxmox, while designing a resilient stretch cluster across two sites with replication. The transformation focused on more than simply changing hypervisors. We delivered a structured approach covering assessment, architecture, migration, high availability, replication, testing and knowledge transfer. The result: greater infrastructure control, improved resilience, reduced licensing dependency and a scalable platform for future growth. If your organization is evaluating alternatives to VMware, TechData Enterprise Ltd can help you plan and execute the transition with minimal disruption.

Running Kafka on VMs forces teams to understand the system, not just operate the service. The Moniepoint article is a useful reminder that Kafka reliability is shaped by many small infrastructure decisions: broker sizing, disk behaviour, network paths, partition placement, replication, failure domains and recovery processes. In our experience, Kafka problems often look like “capacity issues” at first. Underneath, they are usually systems issues. A few things tend to matter more than expected: • disk latency before disk capacity • partition strategy before broker count • observability before incident response Managed platforms can hide some of this complexity, but they do not remove the architectural thinking. The real test is whether Kafka can scale without multiplying cost, operational risk and on-call pressure. #Datanised #Kafka #DataStreaming #Infrastructure #Observability Original Article: https://lnkd.in/evGk_qUX
