Heard of it but not sure what it does or how it can help you? your home’s air might be filled with microscopic threats: mold spores, bacteria, and allergens recirculating through your HVAC system. According to the EPA, along with organizations like the American Lung Association and AAFA.org, indoor air can be 2 to 5 times more polluted than outdoor air. Learn how UV Light systems can protect your health, your system and your home. https://lnkd.in/g-sRpj-e

Each month when you replace your HVAC system's air filter, it's also critical to pour a self-scouring solution down the air handler drain line to clean out residue. But should you use vinegar or bleach? Start by considering the pH values. Vinegar is mildly acidic and has a pH of 3, providing a more natural and gentle option. But that also means more frequent cleaning. Alternatively, bleach has a pH of 13, is highly alkaline, and offers powerful disinfection. But it is harsher, more corrosive, and even toxic if ingested by animals or people. This is why it's so important to choose the solution that best fits your needs, then dilute accordingly. Proper maintenance will keep your system running smoothly and safely. #JacksonvilleHVAC #ThursdayTips #VinegarVsBleach

Air conditioning's primary function is to remove heat, but a key byproduct is moisture removal, leading to condensation. This condensation collects in drain pans, creating damp, dark environments where microbial growth can thrive. This "growth" is often the source of that musty, moldy smell you notice when you first turn on your HVAC system. UV light, similar to sunlight, can prevent this growth by eliminating bacteria, mold, and viruses. Introducing UV purification into your air handler system effectively combats the damp, dusty odors, ensuring cleaner indoor air. #HVAC #IndoorAirQuality #HomeMaintenance #UVLight #Health

How do you keep shelter air breathable when fresh air is limited or unavailable? Everyone inside a shelter consumes oxygen and releases CO₂ through breathing. Without sufficient air replacement or CO₂ removal, the air can gradually become unsafe. A running ventilation system does not always mean enough air is being supplied. And simply circulating air inside the shelter does not remove CO₂. CO₂ scrubbers address this by passing internal air through a dedicated absorbent and returning air with a lower CO₂ concentration. They can support extended isolation or supplement limited ventilation, while oxygen levels and overpressure are managed alongside them. Our latest article explains these two conditions, the different CO₂ removal technologies available, and what to consider when planning shelter air management. With ragweed season running until the first frost, a reminder that HVAC systems play a meaningful role in indoor air quality. Every cycle draws household air through the filter; a fresh, appropriately-rated filter captures far more pollen and particulate than a clogged one. For allergy-sensitive households, a higher-MERV filter or whole-home air purification can make a noticeable difference. A small change with real comfort payoff.

Your HVAC system might be circulating up to 40 pounds of dust every single year. Most homeowners think changing the furnace filter is enough. It isn't. Dust, dander, and allergens build up inside the ductwork where basic airflow can't dislodge them—until they slowly blow back into your living space. A true deep clean requires negative air pressure and specialized extraction tools to pull debris out at the source. Cleaner air, fewer allergens, and lower monthly energy bills because your system doesn't have to fight restricted airflow. When was the last time someone looked inside your supply vents? #HVACMaintenance #IndoorAirQuality #FacilitiesManagement
