  • International Arbitration Focus | Sector-Specific Arbitration Insight - Arbitration in the insurance sector In line with the usual principles of contractual freedom, the parties to an insurance or reinsurance contract are free to agree upon any governing law and dispute resolution mechanisms they wish. This autonomy extends to the selection of arbitration as the preferred forum for resolving disputes, and arbitration is often favored by many participants in the insurance and reinsurance markets. In this chapter, John Ellison, Mark Pring, Catherine Lewis, Stephanie Gee focus on the arbitration of insurance and reinsurance disputes, including disputes arising under Bermuda Form, and evaluates the relative merits of arbitration as against litigation in an insurance context. 📍 Read the article and the newsletter in full: https://lnkd.in/eHHWtcNe

💎 The London Fall Conference included a special Evensong performance at St. Lawrence Jewry Church, which was a joining of the Temple Church and St. Lawrence Jewry choirs for a spellbinding hour of some of the most beautiful singing. It was a gorgeous ceremony and concluded with a viewing of the City of London Magna Carta. See highlights of the event. #ABAILSLondon2026 #Evensong #TempleChurch #StLawrenceJewry #MagnaCarta #Choirs

I am proud to share that Jim Martin, Michael McCune, and I, working hand-in-hand with a trial team of Perry Napolitano, Justin Kontul, Ginevra Ventre, Daniel Wolfe, and Sarah Loy, helped secure a consequential appellate victory for our client, a leading banking and financial services organization, in a significant trust litigation with an alleged $330 million at stake. This victory in the Pennsylvania Superior Court follows a summary judgment win in the Pennsylvania Orphans’ Court. Embracing the Reed Smith LLP team’s arguments, both courts reinforced the preeminent principle of trust interpretation: enforcing the settlor’s intent as written in the trust document.

  • International Arbitration Focus | Sector-Specific Arbitration Insight - Arbitration in the shipping sector Arbitration is deeply embedded in the shipping industry and remains the default dispute resolution mechanism across a wide range of maritime transactions. The global nature of shipping – combined with the need for neutrality, technical expertise, and enforceability – makes arbitration particularly well suited to maritime disputes. At the same time, the sector presents a number of distinctive features that differentiate shipping arbitration from arbitration in other industries. Drawing on both English and Chinese perspectives, authors Zeldar Wang and Antonia Panayides highlight those distinctive features, explain why arbitration continues to be attractive for shipping clients, and identify key practical considerations. 📍 Read the article and the newsletter in full: https://bit.ly/3ViYEG2
