Tens of thousands of cold calls taught me this… Most reps are doing it completely wrong. They make 2-3 calls between Slack messages. Check email. Do some research. Make a few more calls. Wonder why their calendar stays empty. Meanwhile, top performers follow specific systems that consistently fill their pipelines. After years of testing what works (and what doesn't), here are the fundamentals that separate successful cold callers from everyone else: 1️⃣Time blocking beats scattered calling every time. Shut down Slack, close email, put your phone on do not disturb. One hour of focused calling outperforms eight hours of distracted attempts. 2️⃣Setup determines success. Clean desk the night before. Browser tabs closed except your CRM. Contact list ready to go. Remove every possible friction point so you can start calling immediately. 3️⃣Energy management isn't optional. Proper sleep and clean eating directly impact call performance. Hard to believe until you try calling after a night of poor sleep versus eight hours of quality rest. 4️⃣Warm up like an athlete. Run through your first 5-10 calls out loud before dialing. Practice handling objections. Get your brain and voice ready before real prospects answer. 5️⃣Frameworks beat winging it. You don't need to sound robotic, but you need structure. Permission, problem, cost of inaction. Simple formula that works consistently. 6️⃣Write it down and make it visible. Brain fog hits everyone mid-call. Having your framework printed in large font saves you from fumbling when prospects ask unexpected questions. 7️⃣Prepare for predictable objections. Same 4-8 objections come up 95% of the time. Uncover, overcome, ask. Have responses ready instead of stammering through them. 8️⃣Record everything and listen back. Elite athletes watch game film. Sales reps should listen to call recordings. Your tonality, word choice, and objection handling become obvious when you hear yourself. 9️⃣Call when others don't. Friday afternoons worked best for me. Fewer competing calls, backup receptionists, tired decision makers with weekend plans. Blue ocean strategy applied to cold calling. 🔟Consistency trumps intensity. One focused hour daily beats sporadic marathon sessions. Pipeline problems show up weeks later when prospecting stops today. The difference between struggling reps and quota crushers isn't talent. It's system execution. Most reps treat cold calling like a necessary evil. Top performers treat it like a craft worth mastering. — Sales reps! Proven Strategies to Supercharge B2B Outbound Lead Generation Let’s be clear: outbound isn’t dead—it just needs to be smarter. In a world where buyers are more selective and inboxes are more crowded, effective outbound lead generation is about precision, personalization, and partnership with sales. Here are 7 strategies I’ve seen drive real results: 1. Laser-Focus Your Ideal Customer Profile (ICP) Before you start reaching out, refine your ICP. Go beyond firmographics—consider buying triggers, tech stack, growth signals, and key pain points. Use intent data and predictive analytics to prioritize accounts most likely to convert. A highly defined ICP ensures your efforts are efficient and relevant. 2. Multi-Threaded Outreach Modern B2B decisions are made by committees, not individuals. Build relationships across multiple stakeholders within a target account. Tailor messages to specific roles—finance, marketing, operations—and connect them to how your solution supports their objectives. 3. Hyper-Personalized Messaging at Scale Generic emails are dead. Use dynamic personalization tools to tailor messaging based on job title, company news, shared connections, or industry trends. AI can help scale personalization while keeping your messaging authentic and relevant. 4. Leverage Warm Channels First Outbound doesn’t have to mean “cold.” Use mutual connections, recent webinar attendees, or social media engagement as warm entry points. Pair outbound efforts with LinkedIn nurturing, retargeted ads, or personalized video messages to increase response rates. 5. Sequence with Strategy Use automated sequences (email, phone, social touches) designed around your buyer’s journey. Ensure every touchpoint adds value—share relevant case studies, industry insights, or pain-point specific content. A well-structured sequence improves both response and conversion rates. 6. Align with Sales for Speed and Feedback Marketing and sales alignment is critical. Share real-time feedback loops so messaging can be optimized based on what's resonating. SDRs should be armed with the right content, timing cues, and conversation starters to accelerate qualified conversations. 7. Test, Learn, and Optimize Relentlessly Outbound is not set-it-and-forget-it. Track metrics like open rates, response rates, and meeting conversion. A/B test subject lines, messaging, and timing. Leverage attribution insights to refine outreach and double down on what works. 💡 Outbound done right isn’t about volume—it’s about velocity and value. When marketers shift from “spray and pray” to precise, personalized, and data-driven outreach, outbound becomes a true catalyst for sustainable B2B growth. #B2BMarketing #OutboundLeadGen #GrowthStrategy #MarketingLeadership #RevenueMarketing #ABM #CMO #DemandGeneration

  • Outbound is dead in cyber. Long live AE-owned prospecting. I will die on the hill of "outbound is dead". But it's been misunderstood when I've brought it up here. In cybersecurity, generic mass outreach is dying or it's a zombie waiting to be whacked. Targeted, value-driven prospecting led by Account Executives is thriving. SDR's have a hard time doing this not because they can't, but because the system is not setup for them to do it (i.e. comp plans, org structures, etc.) We know from research that personalized outreach based on deep account knowledge delivers 3x better engagement than templated SDR approaches. Yet we keep trying to build outbound motions with higher volume and worse conversion rates 🤮 Here's my framework for building a repeatable pipeline development program where AEs actually own the process: 👉 *The Value Hypothesis Approach* 1. Narrow the focus dramatically: Your target account list should be small enough that each account gets hours of dedicated research. 2. Make AEs accountable for contact mapping They need to identify key stakeholders and understand the organizational dynamics before any outreach begins. 3. Develop specific value hypotheses This is the game-changer. Each account gets 2 customized value proposition based on their specific situation. 4. Collaborate on hypothesis refinement The best teams involve SE/PreSales, Product Management, and Sales Leadership in critiquing and improving these hypotheses. 5. Execute with precision With this foundation, outreach becomes a targeted conversation rather than a generic pitch. 6. Close the feedback loop: Sales leaders need to document which value hypotheses resonated and which fell flat - this becomes your competitive advantage. The best-performing enterprise sales teams allocate at least 1/3 of AE time to this process. Yes, it's resource-intensive, but the results speak for themselves. 2 hours a day (minimum) every day, every AE, for 3 months. Then come back and tell me 'thank you' Unexpected benefit: When AEs spend 10+ hours weekly on strategic prospecting, your inbound and partner-led conversion rates automatically improve. Why? No AE will let warm leads slip after experiencing how much work cold prospecting takes. Pro-tip? Spend 'Training Thursdays' evaluating value hypothesis together. Double pro-tip, combine Value Hypotheiss with 'Show me You Know Me' on your messaging (follow Samantha McKenna - She crushes SMYKM content) Anyone here that calls value hypothesis something else? I used to call it my 'angle'. Need something more catchy and less scientific-sounding 😆

  • I've spent 10 years auditing outbound systems for B2B companies. We added one step before every cold sequence last quarter. Reply rates went from 4% to 31%. Here what I found: The blind spot is always the same. Teams pour everything into: → Sequences → AI outreach tools → Better copy → Higher sending volume And completely ignore the highest converting channel they already have. Their own network. Not their 500 connections. The people their connections know. For most founders that's 9 million people. Here's what nobody talks about: Cold email response rates dropped below 1% in 2025. Warm intro close rates are still sitting at 30-40%. That's not a marginal difference. That's a completely different game. The reason warm intros stay ad hoc forever isn't that founders don't value them. It's that there was never a real system for finding the right paths. Your investors know your buyers. Your former colleagues sit inside your target accounts. Your teammates have intro paths you've never thought to use. But NONE of it is visible. So it stays untapped and founders keep grinding cold. I've been testing Draftboard recently. You sign up, install a quick extension, and it automatically maps your entire 2nd degree network. Upload your prospect list and it shows you: → Who in your network can make the intro. → Why that relationship is strong enough to ask. → Who on your team has an even better path in. The "wait… you know them?" moments are honestly a little ridiculous these days. I showed it to a founder I work with who had been cold emailing the same 3 accounts for 6 months. Turns out his co-founder's former colleague was sitting inside all 3. He had a warm path the whole time. He just couldn't see it. The best GTM teams in 2026 won't win on volume. They'll win on knowing which door to knock on before they start knocking. Cold outreach still works. But if a warm door already exists inside your network? Why are you still knocking on the cold one? • How it started: 4,000 cold emails sent. 1 lead generated. How it’s going: $4M+ ARR. Top 1% Agency Award. 30-person team. 6 lessons that turned my outreach campaigns from crickets to conversions: 1/ The list is the strategy Putting your message in front of the right person matters more than anything else. Many spend little time building their lead list, and a lot of time figuring out what to say. Do the opposite. Hint: You want to identify people/companies struggling with a problem you can solve. For example, we ran campaigns for an HR SaaS that helped with employee churn. We looked at Glassdoor reviews, and the average employee tenure. If employees stayed less than 18 months on average, + reviews were bad… we hypothesized the companies were a fit. 2/ Be as valuable as possible Most cold outreach try to get. “can I have 15 min of your time?” “can I pick your brain on… ?” But the best outreach gives. How to do that? Think about the first thing you would do for them if you signed them as clients. And do it already… for free. For example, I ran an outreach campaign targeting recruitment firms. I figured that the first thing I’d do for them, would be to build a list of Talent Acquisition Directors in companies hiring for 10+ roles. So I built the list. Sent it to them. Along with a tutorial of how I built it. It worked. 3/ Write for 1 person, then scale. Most try to build the biggest list possible and come up with a message that’ll appeal to everyone. But appealing to everyone = appealing to no one. When I start a new outreach campaign, I manually write 25 messages, 1 by 1, by looking at my prospect LinkedIn profiles. The beauty of doing it this way, is that you uncover patterns, that you can later on scale with the help of tech & AI. 4/ Fix your deliverability Good deliverability doesn’t guarantee you’ll succeed. But bad deliverability guarantees you’ll fail. Make sure to follow ‘best practices’ - < 50 emails per day per mailbox - SPF, DKIM, DMARC Setup - No open rate tracking - Secondary domains - Email warm-up … and send emails you’d want to receive. 5/ Pair cold email with other channels Cold email is a great channel to start with. It’s cheaper than paid ads, faster to get results than with content. But when you send cold emails, people check you out. Guess who’ll they trust more between your competitor who’s a ghost online vs. you who’s been posting valuable content on a consistent basis? 6/ Use the best Sales Software The outbound landscape keeps on changing. The best tools stay on top of the market, and ship new features constantly. In the cold email world, no one ships faster than Instantly.ai… (and I’m not saying that because they gave me this beautiful golden plaque, they’re simply the best) P.S: We wrote a 14-page guide that includes how our $4M ARR outbound agency books meetings using AI & Tech. Interested? Let me know below and I’ll make sure you get it :) P.S 2: Thanks Ada for the pic 📸

Nobody replying to your cold emails? This post may help. 30MPC + Outbound Squad + Gong analyzed 85M+ cold emails.  Here were 8 best practices that surprised me: 1️⃣ Stop asking prospects for time. “Want to meet for 30 minutes next Wednesday or Thursday?” → reply rates drop 44%. --- 2️⃣ Instead of asking for time, use an "Offer CTA" Ex. "We pulled benchmark data on bill realization rates for 40+ IP law firms. Would you like me to send that over so you can see how you compare?" ^"Offers" are 4X more effective than interest-based CTAs. --- 3️⃣ Pick the right "Offer" level: Easy: Pitch the Blind Date → make the AE or SE sound worth meeting. ^Do these if you have a TON of accounts Medium: 1:Many → benchmarks, peer insights, or reusable content. Hard: 1:1 → custom offer (ex. in-depth audit, free consulting) built for them ^Best for ENT prospecting --- 4️⃣ Use non-salesy subject lines: 1–5 words. “sales ramp delay” beats “Cut onboarding by 47%.” Will Allred's internal cameo philosophy in play here. --- 5️⃣ Write subject lines in lowercase. Data shows lowercase performs best. These feel less formal. --- 6️⃣ Avoid writing these open-killers in your subject line: “AI” (–17.9% open rates) Numbers like “10x” (–8.9%) Buzzwords like “streamline” (–6.9%) Social proof (–3.9%) Questions in subject line (–2.6%) --- 7️⃣ Personalize to the account, NOT the human. Data shows Execs respond better to company-level personalization than to personalization about them specifically. Reason: They care more about their company's goals than you calling out they wrestled in college. --- 8️⃣ Voicemails = more cold email replies  Data shows voicemails lead to 3X the cold email reply rate. --- Data shows that in 2025, top reps book 8X more meetings than average reps. I reverse-engineer why B2B deals die (hint: buyer uncertainty, not price) | Building self-service revenue systems that buyers actually prefer

91% of B2B decision-makers open cold messages, yet only 4.2% respond. Let me break this down after analyzing 500+ cold outreach campaigns across different industries: The problem isn't getting your message seen - it's getting it responded to. Here's what I discovered about why most cold messages fail: 1. 82% focus entirely on the sender's offerings 2. 76% use generic templates without personalization 3. 91% don't address specific pain points 4. 68% ask for too much commitment upfront 5. 88% lack any meaningful research about the prospect IT'S OBVIOUS. Most businesses are doing cold outreach completely wrong, burning through potential opportunities daily. ___ At PipeBagger, we've tracked response rates across thousands of messages and found a consistent pattern: Messages that convert at 22%+ always include: 1. Specific mention of prospect's recent achievements 2. Clear connection to their current business challenges 3. Value proposition aligned with their growth stage 4. Micro-commitments instead of big asks 5. Proof points relevant to their industry The traditional "spray and pray" approach is dead. Yet companies keep pushing the same generic templates expecting different results. ___ The market has changed. Decision-makers are more sophisticated. They can smell a template from miles away. But here's the opportunity: While everyone else is sending the same tired messages, you can stand out by actually understanding your prospect's world. It's not about volume anymore. It's about precision. #B2BSales #ColdOutreach #ColdEmailing #SocialSelling

The prospecting system that books 20-30 meetings/month 👇 Most reps wake up hoping for meetings The best reps wake up knowing they’ll get meetings Why? Because they work a system If you want at least one meeting a day or even a hat trick with three in a day you need to consistently hit these four outbound levers • Cold calling the fastest way to get live conversations • Email outreach the most scalable channel • Social selling where your prospects are already engaging • Warm intros & referrals the easiest “yes”    How to execute this daily? 👉 Cold calling (50-100 dials/day) • 15 dials before 9am = low resistance. fresh minds • Block 1-2 power hours during peak times (8-10am & 3-5pm) • Skip permission based openers. Get straight to it • Start strong "the reason for my call is..." then bring immediate relevancy • Use open ended questions to drive the convo forward    👉  Email outreach (25-50 emails/day) • Forget personalization. Relevancy wins every time • No fluff, no pitch slaps. Just get to the damn point • Imagine every word costs $1. Keep it under 70 words • Soft CTAs drive replies and move the needle      "worth a quick chat next week?"   "think this is worth exploring?"    • Follow ups win the battle. No “just checking in” BS • Every touchpoint should add value. Not just remind them you exist 👉  Social selling (25-50 connection requests + 10-15 DMs/day) • No pitch slapping have a damn conversation • Blank connect requests win no need for a note • Open a two way convo, seek to understand • Play the long game. Comment, add insights, make intros • Use video/voice notes (30-60 sec) to stand out 👉  Warm intros & referrals (5+ asks per week) • Happy customers? Ask for intros. "Who else in your network would find this useful?" • LinkedIn groups? Start convos. "Anyone here using [solution] for [problem]?" • Past prospects? Re engage. Deals that didn’t close but had interest So why does this all work? When done daily each lever creates opportunities across channels • One day an email reply turns into a meeting • The next a cold call gets a “yeah lets chat” • A well placed DM leads to “let’s book time” When all levers run consistently this system books 20-30 meetings/month Most reps think outbound is a guessing game It’s not. It’s a system Work the system and the system will work for you 👉 Whats your biggest struggle with prospecting?

  • My B2B Cold Outreach Funnel Cheat Sheet (Claude prompts included): Most cold outreach in 2026 is dead on arrival. Average reply rates have sunk to 3-5%. AI-generated spam is flooding every inbox. But top performers still hit 15-25% replies. Here's the funnel they follow (with Claude prompts): 1. Define Your ICP - Pick 1 persona with a painful problem. - Prompt: "Act as a B2B strategist. Build an ICP for [service]. Include pains, triggers, and objections." 2. Build a Tight List - 50-100 prospects max per campaign. - Smaller lists get 2-3x higher replies. - Prompt: "List 10 data points to qualify prospects for [ICP]." 3. Research Buying Signals - Funding, hiring, new tools, leadership changes. - Signal-based emails get 5-18% reply rates. - Prompt: "Analyze this company's recent news. Find 3 outreach angles: [paste info]." 4. Write the First Email - Under 125 words. One clear CTA. - Reference the signal, not their first name. - Prompt: "Write a 100-word cold email referencing [signal]. Connect it to [pain]. End with a soft CTA." 5. Sequence Multi-Channel - Email + LinkedIn + phone = 40% more engagement. - Plan 8-12 touchpoints per prospect. - Prompt: "Build a 14-day sequence across email and LinkedIn for [ICP]." 6. Follow Up with Value - 80% of replies come from follow-ups. - Share a case study, audit, or insight. - Prompt: "Write 3 follow-ups. Each adds new value. No 'just checking in.'" 7. Handle Replies Fast - Respond within 1 hour when possible. - Speed wins deals. Period. - Prompt: "Draft a reply to this objection: [paste]. Keep it short and book the call." 8. Track & Adjust - Watch replies, meetings, and revenue. - Ignore opens. They're vanity now. - Prompt: "Analyze these campaign stats. Tell me what to fix first: [paste]." --- I've run outreach for 15+ years. Volume stopped working a long time ago. Precision and signals win in 2026. Claude makes the research 10x faster. But the strategy still has to be yours. --- What's your cold outreach reply rate? ♻️ REPOST to help others book more calls. P.S. • Doing Cold Email right now, it feels like *winter has come*. But that’s a good thing because… …it will freeze out spammers. The bad side, though, is you might be walking on thin ice, too, without realizing it. So here’s a quick checklist of what you can’t ignore in Cold Email right now… so you don’t *ekhm* get left out in the cold *ekhm*: 🔥1️⃣ Put your ICP in the spotlight (more important now than ever) - Build granular segments in your lists so you can hyper-target - Make sure your emails are relevant to each sub-segment - Use buying signals to send emails at the right time - Consider adjusting your offer to make it more appealing for each sub-segment 🔥2️⃣ Use reliable data providers - Data deteriorates quickly. Combine several data sources if you can - Verify your email addresses (BTW, Lead Finder in Woodpecker.co does both of these things – it’s a data hub of +1B email addresses, provided by several trusted sources. It automatically verifies email addresses, and you pay only for the valid ones.) 🔥3️⃣ Choose your email infrastructure wisely - Consider using domains and email accounts from dedicated cold email providers (like Maildoso). They’re already pre-configured for Cold Email, so you can start warming them up immediately 🔥4️⃣ Keep an eye on deliverability - Get separate domains and inboxes for cold emails (don’t use your company domain) - Set up email records like SPF, DKIM and DMARC - Warm up your domains and mailboxes - Don’t send over 50 emails/day per mailbox (so scale horizontally instead of vertically) - Rotate mailboxes - Always verify email addresses on your list 🔥5️⃣ Write emails that stand out - Being relevant is the most important thing - Talk about the prospect. Don’t talk about yourself - Write short, to-the-point messages - If you’re staring at a blank page and don’t know where to start, use a copywriting framework (like PAS, AIDA, BAB or Josh Braun’s 4T) - Don’t try to sell in the first email. Start with offering value 🔥6️⃣ A/B test. Always 😉 If you skip these tips? Your emails will get a frosty reception. Some cold shoulders. A few ice-cold stares. If you follow them? Well hello there, warm replies. 🔥 PS. And BTW, this Cold Email t-shirt? 100% cold weather-proven. 😉
