A button-masher with a strategy-game pedigree, Koei's Dynasty Warriors DS: Fighter's Battle straddles the line between two genres with awkward balance. [Sep 2007, p.87]

However, Dynasty's old faults--poor AI and monotonous battling--are readily apparent. [July 2007, p.107]

Between the simple card system, the short length, and the anime look, Fighter's Battle feels like a game that was meant to get younger players interested in the Dynasty Warriors series. Longtime fans may be irked by these changes and the lack of a story, but it's still a DW game at heart.
58
A competent but ultimately soulless and uninspired slash 'em up that doesn't push the DS to anywhere near its full capabilities. [Oct 2007, p.94]
50
The gameplay works decently enough but it lacks any depth. The battle card system feels unimportant, and you'll blaze through the game in a day. Time to bury this dynasty in the history books.
45
This multiplayer-focused, handheld distillation of the Dynasty Warriors formula is barely entertaining enough to sustain its two-hour length.
33
There is simply nothing here worth playing, nothing here worth buying and it stands as yet one more clue (as if they need any more) that Koei needs to move on to greener pastures and bury this franchise once and for all.

What can be said about Dynasty Warriors DS that hasen't already been said before? We're it not for the release of Shenmue on the original dreamcast on December 29 in the year of our lord 1999, i have no doubt that Dynasty Warriors DS would become the greatest work of art mankind has sucsessfulyl produced. Heres hoping for Dynasty Warriors DS 2 on the 3ds
