"I built this place for me, and I'm inviting everyone to this experience," says owner Deb Goldman, who came to Carp Kitchen from years running Savory Thyme Catering. The vision was a neighborhood food store that she herself would want to shop in every day.
Tucked into a breezy little space on Carpinteria Avenue, Carp Kitchen & Grocery may seem unassuming — but its bold flavors, meticulous ingredient sourcing, and high-quality food speak volumes the moment you take your first bite.
Meats come from Newport Meat. Chicken is Mary's Organic. Produce is sourced from Tutti Frutti Farms. The beef is hormone-free. The cheeses are rare and local. The wines are California and European, chosen personally by Deb. There is nothing in the shop that hasn't been tasted and approved. "There's nothing in the shop that I haven't tasted myself and said, 'This is really good.'"
