Our story A scrappy lo-fi operation since 2020.

Alex and I started Perfectly Imperfect as a newsletter during peak COVID summer, because algorithms were starting to define everyone's taste (mine included). We asked our friends what they were into. Neither of us had editorial experience, design skills, or industry connections.

It grew into hundreds of interviews with people like Charli XCX, Francis Ford Coppola, Lorde, and Ayo Edebiri, and more than 50 parties.

When I got laid off in 2023, I set out to build a place for our readers to share their taste with each other. That became PI.FYI: a social network built around taste instead of an algorithm. Friends, artists, and people who just love putting each other on are still the core of it.
