    gist<\/strong> is Semantic Arts\u2019 minimalist upper ontology<\/a> for the enterprise. It provides the maximum coverage of typical business concepts with the fewest primitives and the least ambiguity\u2014around 100 classes and about the same number of attributes and relationships. Current release 14.1.0 (April 2026).<\/p>\n

    gist is free<\/strong>\u2014as in free speech and free beer. It\u2019s distributed under the Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 International license<\/a>, and you can use it as you see fit for any purpose, as long as you give us attribution.<\/p>\n

    gist represents the fundamental concepts and relationships common to most business use cases, and is deliberately domain-independent\u2014which is what lets it apply across a wide spectrum of domains and support both interoperability and integration of knowledge.<\/p>\n
