Scope: In Scope: 1. This revision to ST 2112-10 enables overlapping physical layers. It clarifies the syntax for layer signaling. As appropriate, revise and update the ST 2112-10 allocations beyond the short list implied by Table 2. Other affected prose might also be reconsidered. Scope: In Scope: 1. Specify payload extensibility for OBID-R: variable payload length and support for multiple identifiers (layered payloads), decodable independently. 2. Add conformance tests / guidance aligned to real modern conditions: time-stretch, pitch-shift, reverberant conditions, multiple codec conversions, spatial processing, digital filtering methods, silent passages, band-limiting / speech isolation, and short-clip extraction. Out of Scope: Mandating a single vendor’s implementation details; the standard should define interfaces, signaling, payload structure, and conformance requirements while allowing implementation flexibility. To ensure our publications don’t create the wrong impression, all our documents (especially the OBID-R conformance annex) will honor the disclaimer language employed in the latest PICS drafts. The OBID suite cannot be used to claim successful compliance. SMPTE has not authorized, tested, or approved any test or interoperability tools.
