About OcalaFrom Ocala, it's no more than a 90-minute drive to the Gulf Coast, Atlantic Ocean or Orlando's theme parks but it's a much shorter trip to the 20 or so solid golf courses located in this north central Florida community.
The Golden Ocala Golf and Equestrian Club, designed by Ron Garl, features eight tribute holes from some of the world's best courses like St. Andrews, Royal Troon and Augusta National. Ocala National Golf Club underwent a redesign by Rees Jones.
Ocala Golf Club, built in 1920, has stood the test of time. The Country Club of Ocala has hosted some of the Sunshine State's best amateur events. Candler Hills Golf Course is a Gordon Lewis design with a par 5 that plays more than 660 yards. Other Ocala golf courses that should be on your radar include Ocala Palms Golf Course and Stone Creek Golf Club.
